I just want to take this moment to comment on how awesome this board is. The guy who's clearly just trying to stir sh*t is being left to do their thing whilst if one of us went to their board to do the same we'd be banned for a week

To be fair, his avatar isn’t Tim Kelly in an Eagles jumper.

Got a feeling that could be me very soon

The only outcome I can see is Kelly ends up with us next year. Why would Freo want to trade for a player that doesn't want to play for them? And if he goes to the draft (almost close to 0% chance that happens) why would a team draft someone in his current situation with his family?
Just of curiosity.

If he went to the draft and say GC drafts him.

Does he have the right to stay in perth and be a bum for a year, not playing a single game, as he told every club his perth condition?

I would ask what is his pressing need. To get home, and home is in WA. This would mean either Freo or WCE. This would satisfy his need to be closer to his family network and support network. Further he played for the local Fremantle club. So if his tier one priority was to get home, then either of these two options satisfies this need. If his next tier was to setup his family etc, given he was on low wages 2 years ago etc, then either FREO or GFC satisfy these needs, as they are providing the more lucrative contracts.
So what we have here is a player who wants to play for WCE for personal success, and to be close to his family.
On the other side there is the valuation of this worth. On exposed form is he as valuable as Neale and Weller and many would say yes.

Have you not looked where freo training centre is compared to west coasts?

Where do his parents live.

Look it up. And then grow up.

You mean this guy?

simple question, if he needed all this support etc why is he still in geelong?
He didnt want to be drafted interstate in the first place he made it known before the draft he would be a flight risk .
Do you think he was happy to be drafted by your mob ?
Then asked for a trade year 1 .
Then refused to sign comtract extensions
Then asked again now he is uncontracted.

He never wanted your shitty club . Ever . Now your being big sooks and throwing all the toys out as you know tim leaving is shutting your premiership window .

Why the **** would kelly have to go to freo if he didnt want to. Tell me any uncontracted player going to a vic club that was pushed to another club for better picks ?

On the flip side your club gets unders for danger ablett and now steven "going
home"

Hypocritical flogs

If he goes to the draft he nominates terms.

If Gold Coast draft him his partner and kids could stay in Perth. Kelly commences preseason. Struggles mentally with a looming family split. Takes stress leave on full pay and goes to his family.

Sits out a year on full pay and request a trade......for the third time.

Who's give a flying f*** about the reasoning.

If he wants to go to WCE that's the end of it FFS.

If as an out of contract player I wanted to return to my home state for whatever reason I would object to any idiot trying to tell me which club I should go to.
I would demand the same privileges as the previous 50 traded players have been afforded. Namely “I pick this club and my previous club negiotates with them to reach a deal.”
Any one who objects to this can go jump and mind their own business.

and the judd transaction netted you?
a decent return
It's very arguable that the return we got for Judd was actually not good at all. Here's why
-the 2007 draft was known to be weak.
-Carlton refused to include pick 1 instead of 3.
-Kennedy was an absolute spud at carlton.

Whilst I am very grateful of the deal we ended up getting, we were hoping to deal with Richmond. But we didn't, because Judd requested carlton, not Richmond.

Sounds similar to another player doesn't it?

Pick 39 is less than they would have liked. Would have been a complete joke if they got 20 due to GC having to pay overs to get decent players to their club.

I'm starting to think we should get rid of the Draft all together. It is too compromised with NGA/F&S/FA comp picks. It no longer does what it is supposed to do.

what do you mean?
given ross is gone, who would have treated him without respect
What I mean is, that when you treat people like rubbish, they no longer want to be associated with you.

When you treat people like rubbish in public (i.e. what your club is currently doing with Kelly), then others don't want to be associated with you, either.

Other players will be sitting back watching this going on and thinking "there is no way I want to play for Geelong if this is how they treat their players".

Basically we got lucky that Kennedy turned out to be a champ.

If he hadn't that trade would of looked disasterous for us. Judd did go on to win a Brownlow, multiple AAs and multiple finals appearance for Carlton so they certainly got their monies worth.

No ban though
