I am conflicted as to whether this belongs in the nods head or shakes head thread:
Damian Barrett is at it again (but he does have a point)

IF
Port Adelaide
Dixon (six touches last week), Gray (seven) and Ebert (nine) need to find motivation and inspiration ... ... sit down in front of a TV and watch, on loop, Power fan Kyle Chalmers' seventh-to-first last 50m of the Rio Olympics 100m freestyle final.

Barrett is a **** mostly, but the more heat that gets thrown at our underperforming players the better.

Kyle's whole story is about sliding doors and Barrett still can't work it out.

Ha keep trying Warrior.

Why he calls it sliding doors is beyond me..none of his stories have a sliding doors moment...
Should just call it Barrett writes words..

Of course I do, jeez, it's how the media perceive things. You guys are going on about some SA media conspiracy against your club. SEN didn't even mention Port Power concerning his sons great achievement today. Do you really think the media does any real research these days? Sure they could've mentioned games played for Port Power in the AFL but guess what, the story is about the kid and not the handful of games his dad played at Power at the end of his career. **** me it's like saying Brereton was a Collingwood player.
How much lint have you discovered in your collective navels over this travesty?
Your penance for gratuitous use of Port Power is to say three Camry Crows.

How else can one distinguish between Port Power and a time when Brett Chalmers played in the SANFL for Port Adelaide?
Don't be so infantile and reactive.
He played for Port Adelaide in the AFL and Port Adelaide in the SANFL. It ain't hard to understand. He's played 140 odd games for Port Adelaide.

So how would you know which Port at which time I was referring to? Seriously overly sensitive over this use of words. I'm pretty sure your club referred to the AFL licence as Port Power when Chalmers played for them. Am I incorrect?

I've literally lost what point you're trying to make

He played 145 games for Port Adelaide. R U OK?

No idea. Does it? I've never seen it as that way
You might not have, but it is common knowledge that the Crow-centric media deliberately refer to us as Port Power, even though the request to be called Port Adelaide Power was made circa a decade ago! This continues to be done as as a deliberate snub, by them and many Crow supporters and has been openly laughed about on your board! The correct names are Port Adelaide Power in the AFL, & Port Adelaide Magpies in the SANFL.

That all been said, there are still many Port people who still throws out the odd 'Port Power' and dont particularly care. But, not a wise idea to come on this board and argue with die-hard Port supporters on the subject!

its more annoying that the Adelaide media in particular will align good things that happen to Adelaide and bad things that happen to Port

Chalmers, son of ex Adelaide player wins GOLD
Nick Stevens, former Port player bashes his wife

Thats what gets the knickers in a twist

Pretty much this... seriously f*** this backwash of a state. If I had the money to leave, I would in a heartbeat.

Yes.

For future reference, for visiting Crows, curious neutrals and confused Port fans alike.

We were always the Port Adelaide Football Club.

While the "Port Power" branding was an unfortunate mistake that was rectified for obvious reasons, the only such references were on the initial logo and in the song.

As my patented reality mosaic shows:

And as a bonus, check out the sign on the wall in the rooms after the Showdown 1 victory of 1997, right beside the logo:

Whether you take this information on board or cling to your erroneous preconceived notions is up to you.

You mean a career that spanned 10 years for which 7 of them were at Port which netted him 4 premierships, a Jack Oatey medal and a Port Adelaide life membership?
yep. Crows legend

Chalmers left Adelaide as soon as HIS club joined the AFL. Couldnt get out of West Lakes quick enough. He even tried to draft tamper just so he could play for a team that wasnt Adelaide.

You can talk as much trash as you want but the facts are Chalmers is a Port champion who spent a couple of years with your mob because he had no other options if he wanted to play AFL.. until he did have an option then came home.

Both Brett and Kyle are Port through and through as was noted a year or so ago when Brett was awarded a PAFC life membership with his whole family there at the AGM kitted up in Port gear

He loved Adelaide about as much as Abernethy and Hodges did

Not that I feel any particular desire to defend Barrett, but I seem to remember (correctly or not) that when he first started writing the column it was more based around "sliding doors" moments, as opposed to the "if... then" thing he has going on now.

You're right, it was originally genuine sliding doors stuff, then he got lazy/ran out of ideas and here we are.

heck me, not the Port Power thing again.

I'd be happy if we called ourselves PP and actually played decent football.

It'd be better than playing "Port Adelaide football" which legit sucks balls.
