The reason the media do stories like this is simple: clicks; purchases; ratings. The news media is a dying industry. This is the only way it knows to get eyeballs. It is exploitative and trash but completely explicable.

AFLW 2024 - Round 9 - Indigenous Round - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Depends on your definitions Jimmy.
I was in bay 312 in the Chappell Stand and saw that fight but it was completely separate from the fight on the hill that the Yahoo 7 article links it too.No there was a seperate fight in the members - top tier just behind where the port officials sit. (Just around from me)
From what I could tell a female fan had an altercation with someone behind her. I didn't see what sparked it but saw the struggle and security arriving. It was much earlier in the game. I suspected she was the woman allegedly hit from behind. A lot of people screaming at the time along the lines of "it's only a game - don't do something stupid"
Been to the subcontinent? SE Asia? Africa or ME? Only the west is "multicultural" but if you want to enjoy some real racism against anyone who'se different take a holiday in India, it puts in perspective how supposedly racist we are.

You guys realise that outside a tiny bubble of supporters on both sides literally no one gives a flying **** about the showdowns crowd behavour on the weekend, let it go move on, it's a non issue.
Interesting as my experience from where I sat in the western stand on Saturday was that it was one of the least agro showdowns I had attended. Walking out afterwards back to the train station I didn't pick up any bad vibes either.
You can almost be certain the same old shit will happen again at the next Showdown. Morons are going to Moron sadly.Tell that to KT and Kochie who are going to have to explain to sponsors and other commercial partners why our club has yet again been associated with racist behaviour plastered across news mediums nation wide.
I posted a comparison between CH7 and the ABC in this same thread on Sunday night.Yep. Trump could launch a nuclear attack on Canada and it would still be bumped to third story on the the news in this town. Ch 7 particularly have decided that the narrative of Port being the bogey man is a ratings winner. AA and increasingly MMM have been onto this for years.
Segregate the supporters like the did in that 05 showdown final. Looked good on TV
A few idiots in a crowd of 53k is a pretty accurate representation of racism in Australia ie. pretty minor compared to unfortunate world standards.Depends on your definitions Jimmy.
So Typical Fagan, I'll bet his club won't be as pro-active. They seem to believe their own press that criers are above reproach. I guess their first go to action is to minimise it and sweep it under the carpet if they possibly can as it just doesn't fit their world view that 100% of their customers are model citizens.http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-04-11/port-adelaide-investigating-racism-allegations
BOTH Port Adelaide and Adelaide are facing allegations that fans racially abused opposition indigenous players during Saturday night's Showdown at the Adelaide Oval.
The Power is investigating allegations that one of its supporters racially vilified Crow Eddie Betts, while there are also claims involving alleged racial abuse of Power ruckman Paddy Ryder by a Crows fan.
.......
In a statement on Tuesday morning on the Betts allegations, Adelaide CEO Andrew Fagan said, "Our club strongly condemns any such behaviour and finds it abhorrent and disgusting.
........
A Crows spokesman told AFL.com.au on Tuesday that the club would not comment on the allegation concerning Ryder until it was confirmed by Adelaide Oval officials.
At least we as a club are being proactive in dealing with these idiots. They just seem to let others deal with it. Perhaps they think none of their fans are tainted.
Will still be blamed on Pooortz. You can almost be certain the same old shit will happen again at the next Showdown. Morons are going to Moron sadly.

It was strange to see guys in suits who didn't look inebriated being thrown out of the football.

How were the supporters segregated at the showdown final? I was there, ended up standing with several Crows supporters I've never met before. If you're talking about how the bays seemed to be segregated between the two sides, they do that at all finals.
It's not the same thing to be fair. What is starting to shit me is the hypocrits who (rightly) denounce negative stereotyping on the basis of race then go on hate fuelled rants stereotyping people on the basis of (percieved) socioeconimic status.
Some disgusting generalisations being made.
I wonder if these posts will be highlighted in the media and on the news.

I am shocked to be sitting here.I guess you have read Port's Official Statement.
In contrast, here is the Crers Official Statement (spot the difference):
ADELAIDE CROWS CLUB Statement:
Adelaide Football Club Chief Executive Officer Andrew Fagan said the following in regards to racial vilification and the issues faced by Crows players at the weekend:
"Our Club strongly condemns any such behaviour and finds it abhorrent and disgusting.
"In listening to our playing group and our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander players in particular, it is clear how damaging and impactful racism is to them and their families.
"Our entire playing group and our Club stand together on this, unequivocally."

Not a mention of Paddy Ryder's being vilified. They really do have their noses up their rear ends. Pathetic!

I wouldn't expect anything less from the franchise down the road. United they ain't, fake they are like the SA media. That is why i love this footy club complete opposite. I understand also that EVERY CLUB has bad eggs and they choose to protect them imo unlike us who deal with it promptly.I guess you have read Port's Official Statement.

I didn't say it was. It's not the same thing to be fair.
Though there is some level of hypocrisy it's not the same.
