If we get Clarkson:

And if we don't:

Do we have "our man lined up" or are we in a genuine open search?

I'm thinking both-and.

I reckon we KNOW we have a great upgrade on Sando, with enough certainty to part ways. My thinking is it's Bassett, and I'm very happy with that.

BUT we may also feel we could go one better - Clarkson. We may have an offer all lined up, worked through with his management and ready to put to him in the next 48 hours depending on how the GF turns out. Jarman may have got wind of this. (Or may have just got wind.)

That's where Jarman may have done us harm - reducing a 10% chance of luring Clarko away from his contract to 0.1%

So it may not be one or the other. We may have "a man", not "the man", now seeing if we can get superman...

Obviously I've thought Sando wasn't up to it for a long time, but watching that last night, it wasn't just me, he came across as very amateur and out of his depth, right?

missed that show last night, I did catch a snippet of the show with sando the other day and cringed.

that bad was he mate? im not surprised

Although a former power player I would fully endorse Stuart dew I think he'll be good plus his experience with hawthorn and Sydney is where his true success has came from not port.

Definitely. One other comment stood out to me. When the old coaches were chatting, they all agreed that a great coach was the alpha male. When he walked into the room, he was the man, he demanded respect. He took no shit and was in charge.

That describes Clarkson, Lyon, Longmire, Roos - even Hinkley.

It does not, in any way, describe Sando.

Now come on, be fair..I've seen him with a serious look on his face..

Ok I see your point

Chocco and Dew would be fine. Ratten and Bassett would be fine. Clarkson and anyone would be fine.

Just have it done by Wednesday at the latest.

Pretty excited about the drums beating for Bass. No doubt a few casual punters would cry boys club merely because he is an exAFC man. But those that matter will know he is the anti-boys club personified. If the boys club was still intact Bassett wouldn't get a look in. Cranky and glorious, insightful and unorthodox, professional and inspiring, bound to get in press conference strife, will not mince his words, will demand the respect that good coaches have. Would be a massive upgrade on Sanderson.

Completely agree with this. I feel I also have to add I'm not a Norwood supporter, and I can still see the qualities this man has. If not Clarko (or similar) then definitely Bassett.
