I really hope this didn't happen just so we could get Goodwin over the line. With Ricciuto calling shots behind the scene this smacks of cronyism.

There'd better be a good process in place to get someone here with some credentials, rather than just more from the "Old Boys Club".

Given how this went down, we must have someone lined to take over and it can't be an unproven coach. We sacked Sando and we are on the hook for over $1m to pay him out. You don't do that unless

a) You are replacing him with a proven winner OR
b) He completely lost the playing group

I doubt its b but who knows. If its Goodwin I will absolutely lose it. Talk about the job for the boys.

Whether you love him, or hate him, truth is, Sando has been set up to fail by the club in the last 2 seasons. I am wondering if those that signed off on his extension 12 months ago will get sacked as well? Talk about pissing the money down the drain (along with paying for Lawyers to get our ass kicked by the AFL in the Tippettgate)

If Sando's sacking was not Fagan's doing then surely we wouldn't have someone lined up.

Fagan wants to 'put the right people in the right seats', he will want input on our next coach. If we have someone lined up, he was involved.

Perception based on Syd success

Neeld, Sanderson and Scott Watters all came from successful programs and were highly endorsed and all 3 completely bombed

Successful programs that they slotted into rather than built themselves.

It may be a different level, but Bassett has to get credit for the framework that he established at Norwood - I'll take that over the Watters/Neeld/Sanderson pathway any day.

Damn the class of 2011 sucked...

He was involved. He and Chappy went to visit him yesterday

Could we go for a new structure with more of a high level "manager" type senior coach with far greater operational responsibility on the assistants?

Worsfold would be perfect for this type of structure.
