It's not as if he is taking the last carton of drinking water after a disaster ffs.

He is buying second hand junk. Calm the farm.

You don't think there's a problem with someone getting multiple friends and inside contacts to line up for them to help further their wardrobe resemble some sort of Port Adelaide superhero, whilst other people miss out again? It's greedy, it's opportunistic and its selfish.

I was gonna drive the 45 mins to check this sale out but not anymore. **** the collectors.

I got lucky and found a Michael Wilson match worn.

Still got it?

A lot of the collectors just trade amongst themselves, or end up framed in a man cave of some sort. The ones who try to turn a massive profit... thats a shame!

Ive sold a couple on ebay cos I needed the cash. But even then, those were sold for what I paid (~$150-200), and it was after all the trade pages proved fruitless.

youd be surprised. myself included as a collector. just have a look at the prices things go for when auctioned by the club. people pay $2000 + on some things

Not long ago a 2005 hertiage guernsey went for almost $700 on eBay (I posted it in the memorabilia thread). Retail version too, not even a PI.

I don't have an issue with selling them later on. I kept mine for many years and sold it when I needed some fast cash. But people who turn up at these events with the sole purpose of buying and selling them immediately for profit can **** off. Half of them probably aren't even Port supporters.

agree with that. an idea was floated was you must be a member with last years members card in hand etc would have proffered that for sure

Did we agree on something? I can't fn believe it!

Yep the vultures are the biggest issue and the club has done the right thing by limiting it to 2x per person, but it's still open to exploitation.

I don't get it, shouldn't this shit just be auctioned off online?

Clearly this is the solution.

I think they have steered away from that in the hope that it opens up access to people who may not be able to afford the $500+ for a guernsey online.

What things out of curiosity

It just doesn't seem in any sort of logical scale

Yeah, the whole idea is just to give the average fan a shot at a piece of merch that's a little more special than the standard retail stuff.
I personally reckon it should be just one guernsey per person with your membership card scanned at point of purchase or something. Honestly, how many bloody guernsey's does one person need?

They literally just sold off a bunch of PIs online in 2013 at the same prices they're doing the sales now. I got a Wingard PI and I live in Melbourne. It was nice. I guess since they seperated the online store for no reason they can't do it?

I don't think people would be willing to pay the same prices for training/regular match gear as they would for the special event stuff e.g. Shanghai guernsey.

Having it online is fair. You can put limits on everything, member access, quantity etc. It doesn't even have to be an auction really.

I guess the other reason they decide to do it at the club is it allows them to get people to the club itself, get lunch, meet players (I assume?), sign up for memberships (I assume?) and that funnels a bit more cash into the club too.

I have no idea though as I didn't get to go last year so pls ignore me if wrong

Yeah, I have a 2013 Westhoff clash. I like it because it's Westhoff and it fits me perfectly. Looks great. That's basically all I need. One jumper that fits perfectly.

A white player-issued second skin fits perfectly? Lol I better dust off the treadly!
