Ah yes, another mouth breather who doesn't know how to use the word 'literally' correctly.Hawthorn's youth is far better than Geelong's and it is not even remotely close. Literally galaxies apart in quality.

All part of Hocking's grand plan.Maybe he’s a time traveler, and has foreseen Geelong’s moved to the far reaches of the universe?
Do you always soon when someone correctly claims another club has far better youth than Geelong's?Ah yes, another mouth breather who doesn't know how to use the word 'literally' correctly.
STPer18 we've found another oneDo you always soon when someone correctly claims another club has far better youth than Geelong's?
Nitpick away at my choice of words at your leisure, you know you're hopeless in any attempt to convince neutrals that your club's youth is any good. Pretty sad.
What have you got against the Kestrels?Shoot on sight!
Yep considering we won a flag a season after it was posted. This thread is aging beautifully hahahaha
How did their youth go against our youth on the two occasions they went head to head this year?Hawthorn's youth is far better than Geelong's and it is not even remotely close. Literally galaxies apart in quality.
I guess Hawthorn should’ve won the flag last year since they beat Collingwood, right? How did their youth go against our youth on the two occasions they went head to head this year?
Id argue it wasnt the youth that got it done. It was your seasoned players that set the tone both matches. We also can't play GMHBA with our current gameplan as it takes away taking the ball wide which you blokes were able to clog the flanks up and deny our ball movement. Didn't come totally prepared for your ambush either which is something we hopefully from. How did their youth go against our youth on the two occasions they went head to head this year?
Their youth didn't go head to head with your youth. They went head to head with your team, which contained a lot of experienced players. How did their youth go against our youth on the two occasions they went head to head this year?
We tend to get the right mix of youth and experience, which is why we don't bottom out.Their youth didn't go head to head with your youth. They went head to head with your team, which contained a lot of experienced players.
Geelong is in a similar position to Collingwood; old players still make up a large portion of their squad and not much quality youth coming through.
No, it's because you regularly top up with experience and landed two big fish in Dangerfield and Jeremy Cameron. We tend to get the right mix of youth and experience, which is why we don't bottom out.
Humphries is a gem and looks to be a better youth prospect than Watson.
Cameron and Stewart were very good. Duncan solid.Id argue it wasnt the youth that got it done. It was your seasoned players that set the tone both matches. The difference is that Cameron isn't his 2022 MVP self, even Stewart's form is a bit patchy overall this year, Dangerfield a bit part burst player and the rest of the veterans are no longer even in our best players - some are around the 20th-26th best now.Their youth didn't go head to head with your youth. I wouldn't stress too much mate, I'm sure the days of Geelong's corpse finishing above Hawthorn's kids are coming to a close soon.I think Geelong youth is far superior to Hawthorns unfortunately. To classy and skilfull, not to mention better looking. Geelong will land B. Smith and challenge again in 2025. No midfield will contend with Danger, Smith and that other guy.
Close benefitted from the work done aroundCameron and Stewart were very good. Duncan solid.
But Close of all people dominated - while Mannagh, Holmes, SDK (around the ground), Humphries and Dempsey were very good. Bowes also strong. So a bunch of early career to mid rangers, then a couple of veterans. It depends where you draw the line on "seasoned" - Bowes and Mannagh aren't young but were in their ~30th and 3rd games for the Cats respectively.
We haven't had a super young team for a long, long time but still have a reasonable amount of players in each age tier currently.
Are both clubs after B Smith?
Hold your horses we're talking about the Geelong vs Hawthorn match here. The difference is that Cameron isn't his 2022 MVP self, even Stewart's form is a bit patchy overall this year, Dangerfield a bit part burst player and the rest of the veterans are no longer even in our best players - some are around the 20th-26th best now.
If anything the veterans have let Geelong down this season; compare it to 2022 when Stanley, Bews, Hawkins, Tuohy, Cam Guthrie, Blicavs, Duncan etc were all playing very well (now all out of the team or approaching depth). Plus we had Selwood and Smith.
Falc- I mean new user, if we're talking solely about Geelong vs Hawthorn matches this year then here's the list of 'youngish*' Hawthorn players who've polled votes against Geelong:Hold your horses we're talking about the Geelong vs Hawthorn match here.
Jeremy Cameron got 10 coaches votes in round 17, Tom Stewart got 6.
In terms of youth, Hawthorn is leagues above Geelong. It's not even remotely close.
That's an extremely unintelligent comparison. It's completely normal for young players in an experienced team to perform better than young players in a team getting dominated.Falc- I mean new user, if we're talking solely about Geelong vs Hawthorn matches this year then here's the list of 'youngish*' Hawthorn players who've polled votes against Geelong:
James Worpel (25 yrs)
And here's the list of 'youngish*' Geelong players to poll votes agaisnt Hawthorn:
Ollie Henry (21 yrs)
Max Holmes (21 yrs)
Tanner Bruhn (22 yrs)
Sam De Koning (23 yrs)
Tyson Stengle (25 yrs)
Brad Close (25 yrs)
*Had to go with 25 yrs because that's the only time a Hawthorn player has polled votes against Geelong this season.
