Do you always soon when someone correctly claims another club has far better youth than Geelong's?

Nitpick away at my choice of words at your leisure, you know you're hopeless in any attempt to convince neutrals that your club's youth is any good. Pretty sad.

Id argue it wasnt the youth that got it done. It was your seasoned players that set the tone both matches. We also can't play GMHBA with our current gameplan as it takes away taking the ball wide which you blokes were able to clog the flanks up and deny our ball movement. Didn't come totally prepared for your ambush either which is something we hopefully from.

Their youth didn't go head to head with your youth. They went head to head with your team, which contained a lot of experienced players.

Geelong is in a similar position to Collingwood; old players still make up a large portion of their squad and not much quality youth coming through.

We tend to get the right mix of youth and experience, which is why we don't bottom out.
Humphries is a gem and looks to be a better youth prospect than Watson.

Cameron and Stewart were very good. Duncan solid.

But Close of all people dominated - while Mannagh, Holmes, SDK (around the ground), Humphries and Dempsey were very good. Bowes also strong. So a bunch of early career to mid rangers, then a couple of veterans. It depends where you draw the line on "seasoned" - Bowes and Mannagh aren't young but were in their ~30th and 3rd games for the Cats respectively.

We haven't had a super young team for a long, long time but still have a reasonable amount of players in each age tier currently.

The difference is that Cameron isn't his 2022 MVP self, even Stewart's form is a bit patchy overall this year, Dangerfield a bit part burst player and the rest of the veterans are no longer even in our best players - some are around the 20th-26th best now.

If anything the veterans have let Geelong down this season; compare it to 2022 when Stanley, Bews, Hawkins, Tuohy, Cam Guthrie, Blicavs, Duncan etc were all playing very well (now all out of the team or approaching depth). Plus we had Selwood and Smith.

I wouldn't stress too much mate, I'm sure the days of Geelong's corpse finishing above Hawthorn's kids are coming to a close soon.

Im not so sure the hawks are going as hard as they might have been at the start of the year. I think Worpel has passed him, Nash is now so important and Mackenzie is looking classy.

Hawks dont have the collateral to bring both he and Barrass in and Barrass fills a greater need.

Personally I would still love to sign him but Im not sure the club feels the same way

Jeremy Cameron got 10 coaches votes in round 17, Tom Stewart got 6.

In terms of youth, Hawthorn is leagues above Geelong. It's not even remotely close.

That's an extremely unintelligent comparison. It's completely normal for young players in an experienced team to perform better than young players in a team getting dominated.

Delude yourself at your leisure, but everyone with a functioning brain can see Hawthorn's youth is far better than Geelong's. Again, not even close.

Take out the Camerons, Dangerfields, Stewarts out of Geelong and Hawthorn win against Geelong easily.
Nobody would take Tanner Bruhn over Will Day.
Nobody would take Oliver Henry over Nick Watson.
