The "Richmond haven't beaten anyone " myth thread

No shit? Not every club has the same intention. You think GWS winning 2 games this year would consider it a failure? Brisbane narrowly missing the 8? Probably not. Collingwood fans expected better this year, Richmond/Carlton fans expected to be about where they are (except for the select few from each club that is delusional and get mistaken for "everyone at your club").

Making the finals once in 15 years is bad, but missing the finals for the 16th year is worse. Richmond fans have every right to be happy. Don't understand why you feel the need to come into every thread and blatantly knock every team except for Collingwood.

You make a lot of sense chunky. Too much sense for this joker to understand though. :D

No, what I'm trying to say is that making the 1 year in the last 15 is bad. Making the 8 most years and regularly playing deep into September is good. As a point of contrast, I think you'll find both Carlton supporters and Richmond will be elated at making the 8 this year. Collingwood will still likely make the 8 but I doubt you'll see many supporters say this season was a success, most will view it as a par at best. Or perhaps a better example would be Geelong after the 2010 preliminary final when they were smashed. They clearly weren't happy, went back and made the necessary changes to improve and eventually beat Collingwood. I doubt this happens at clubs like Richmond or Carlton who judge their success at a much lower level.

And how did you come to this conclusion? Do you happen have your finger on the pulse of 18 AFL clubs?

Richmond are doing ok - I thought they would emerge this year. I thought with a list that has been young and developing for a while - their recruiting during trade period was excellent. They seemed to have a good strategy - adding a couple of type players they were missing previously.

They do get shown up by the very good teams. They SHOULD have beat Collingwood. They might be competitive in finals but flag is out of the question; maybe next year is their best chance.

I was predicting a 6th finish and that is exactly where they are.
And we got rid of a few hoodoos.
Carlton Round 1,Gold Coast in Cairns(bye bye Cairns)
Beating a Lyon coached team.
West Coast away win.
Port away win after they showed some stellar form and still are.

Collingwood was a disappointing loss and we blew that one.Clokey had an off day by kicking straight.
We had O'Brien and Swan running around unhindered.
Essendon and North -they're grand finals for those two teams.
Always play their little hearts out when playing us.:D
I'd say we have been boringly predictable as we have won the games we should with a few hoodoos taken from our backs and lost the ones we should.
Need to get a really big scalp and then the players will grow massively in confidence and grow from it.
If we don't,we still have the games in the bank to make finals.
But it's a big proud club and we know everyone will be out to hunt us down from now on in.
Not taking anything for granted.

Richmond havn't beaten Sydney. So no you havn't beaten anyone. Everyone else is just pretenders.

Fremantle now Hawthorn, maybe time for me to start a thread called ' The Tigers are coming ' just like last year with the Roos. ;)
I see what you did there.

something happens to a richmond side playing at the G on a saturday...maybe BT is right, buy up the finals tickets in the 2nd and 3rd week...#prematureblow

Sure, smashing the premiership favourite by 7 goals is not convincing enough.
Noone smart considered Hawthorn as favourites. Sydney and Geelong are the proven champions. Hawthorn have all the talent in the world and no heart. Any good team (and as crazy as it sounds yes Richmond is a good team now) that has a go can beat them.

Richmond will need to beat actual champion teams twice between now and GF day. Much tougher ask than beating Hawthorn.

You're correct. Hawthorn have not won a premiership recently.

Yeah but when only one other team has beaten the Hawks this year it's a pretty good effort.
