I went for a quick look this morning - looking forward to reading how Jen saw the session.

The new boys are big - if they come on we have a powerful group coming through

Quick points
- Boys looked and sounded really up
- Fin looks a footballer's footballer
- Henry takes a nice grab and is a beautiful set shot
- As his profiles states, McMahon marks it at the top of its flight
- Poulter and Wilson working with the defenders (Pendles doing more coaching than Harvey...)
- Rantall improving and was doing extra work with a trainer when I arrived
- Can't recall seeing McCreery
- Q is going to smash it in 2021. What an asset to our back half he is going to be.

I noticed that too earlier this morning. Was good to see.

Why is that not surprising.. What does Harvey know about defence..😕

2nd last session of the year.

Around 9ish, Rantall, Bianco and Lynch were outside with two coaches. Selwood and I think it could have been craig black. As it went on, it felt like more of a session for centre work for Rantall than anything to do with the other two. Bianco and Lynch were just there to help Rantall.

Then about 9:45am, the rest of them started to trail out.

Those that were present: (by numbers)

Rantall
De Goey
IQ
Grundy
Tyler Brown
Daicos
Bianco
Noble
Pendles
Wilson
Adams
Cameron
Lynch
Callum Brown
Macrae
Sidebottom
Roughy
Crisp
Reef
Poulter
Murphy
McMahon
Chugg
Ginnivan
Henry
Sier
Maynard
Ruscoe
Mihochek
Madgen

I saw Kelly later on bringing his lunch outside. Must have been in the gym this morning.

You all want to know about De Goey. Yes yes.

It's about time he came out to training. He looked fit. Siim. He moved really well, participated in everything. Hard to tell whether he was in the midfield group or not, given the group was split up into three different groups as they went about different drills. Might be able to get an idea on Friday if they do some sort of match sim.

Callum's first session of the pre-season. Cal, Tyler, Lynch did running on the far side of the ground while the others began some warm up and drills.

After the warm up, they played a little of NFL, as you can see from social media. During this time I glanced and thought I recognized this guy. Turns out it was Bianco's dad, who I started chatting to.

He told me the story of why Trent is now wearing #8.

In the hub, Trent and Langdon got to be close mates after they were training together and in the same line during scratch matches, when it came down to it when langdon decided to retire; he went up to Bianco and asked him if he would take his number and wear it going forward. Trent knew it was a special thing from him, and gladly accepted.

He also mentioned that Trent struggled a bit in the hub, as many did, and couldn't wait to come home. Also that he is now being trained in the midfield group. The plan is for him to become a winger. Which he has played while in Oakleigh. With his great ball use, he would be used well.

Reef did fair amount of running on the AAMI park side of the ground as he attempts to improve his endurance this summer.

In some kick to kick that Reef did with McMahon, looks like Reef can kick just as well on his left foot as he can on his right.

Ruscoe and McMahon was clunking some good marks from drills that involved with someone kicking the ball to a one on one marking contest between players.

Rantall is looking solid. I think we're about to see a coming of age season for him.

Thank goodness Crisp has gotten his dark hair back. That bleach blonde look in the hub just did not sit well with me lol

Finlay has some great skills. He's gonna be really good for us, don't be surprised if he debuts early too.

McMahon has some great hands on him. Clunks marks at the highest point.

Everyone looked good. There was a great vibe amongst the group.
The thought of having elite users in Daicos and Bianco on both wings makes me moist.

Just quietly, Tyler Brown look like he’s been smashing the bicep curls in the offseason.

Fantastic report as usual Jen. I hope you realise how grateful we all are for your detailed contributions!
The extra information about your conversation with Bianco's dad was the icing on the cake.

Good spot - he's developed into a decent unit. We really need him to come on this season. Time to deliver on the potential.

Don't like Hearing Wilson training as a Defender
I don’t mind it. We’re short on tall defensive depth, and it’s pretty clear that Kelly is playing as a forward for the foreseeable future, while we have Tohill and McMahon developing up forward too. I don’t hold much hope for Tohill tbh, but if we have Cameron/Lynch, Tohill, McMahon and Wilson all playing forward in the twos it’s way too top heavy. It makes sense to put one of them in defence to pair up alongside Keane imo.

Its a smart idea. Put sidebottom in the forward line. He knows his way around goals. Or even in the middle to replace treloar.
Sidey’s best year was when he played on-ball. I want him back in the middle, even if he does get tagged out of a game a little too easily.

Yeah, being tagged is his worse trait, but also is a compliment as it means the opposition views him as the most damaging.

Steele can be a Great Forward as he reads the Play so well

Love this.

Have met Trent's dad at his restaurant (Lazy Moe's on Warragul Road in Oakleigh) and he's a magpie man through and through. This was in February last year and we would've spoken for 20 minutes about the club and how Trent was finding it all. Lovely man.

Great story about Langers and Bianco, which means he will take over from Langers as my favourite player now.

Yeah, I told him I'll have to drop in by the restaurant one of these days.
