There was a really nice piece of play on the Ch 10 news tonight.
It started with Ty Brown evading and dishing off a handball which ended up with IQ nicely hitting up Ruscoe on the lead
Was this performed against some sort of opposition or was it just a couple of blokes boosting each other's egos, pretending they were AFL footballers?

No interest in food, it's preparation and eating, or sheep? Oh.. ok you're from Canberra! I understand where you're coming from now.
Yes, we're simple souls up here in the nation's capital (politicians aside). I must admit that I got bored very quickly reading the COVID thread; too many in-jokes and oblique references and too little footy talk for my liking.

There was little footy talk because there was no footy!

Is there someway I could watch that Bit?.

Saw what you posted below.

That was a weak effort by WHE. IQ Kicking on the Chest of Ruscoe out of the Backline Looked Good

I posted it above

yeah I saw and posted this before you posted:

I remember that piece of play. My friends and I were very impressed the way Ty Brown sorted his way through traffic.

Grundy is irreplaceable and a special case.
Jordy oozes talent, athleticism and power, but he is a loose cannon much as Swannie was in his early days.
If he settles and focuses all his concentration on football he can be a hall of famer.
But he's constantly pushing the boundaries at the club and needs to learn to settle down.

De Goey has never finished higher than 8th in the BnF and never made the AA team unless in mistaken.. Probably a touch early to start taking hall of fames... You know, until he actually has a brilliant season.

Yes Jordy and Moore are highly touted, yet blokes like Crisp and Maynard end up getting the job done more when it comes to Copeland votes.

What is holding him back is in the heart and the head.
He needs for focus and put his heart and soul into his footy.

Gee, De Goey looks good...
Gee, Elliott looks good...
Gee, Noble sounds good...
& the backline core of Moore, Howe, Crisp and Maynard also looking v solid
I think we're in bloody good shape. The big question I have is can we add the necessary power to our midfield, either by being able to release Degoey from the forward line (a big loss to our forward line) or by Sier or Wills kicking on and overcoming their weaknesses.

I don't agree with people saying we only have the next 1-2 years to win a flag.

Our core is young and talented and if we can keep them together we should challenge for a number of years to come.

My prediction is that after this year Richmond and the Eagles will start to drop off and we will have a big opportunity to be king of the hill for at least a couple of years, especially if we top up with some good recycled players to replace the likes of Dunn, Reid, Greenwood, Varcoe etc

Are you a Richmond fan?o_O Not sure why Stevo has to earn his spot. He's been punished enough for last year's brain fade, and this year in pre-season and round 1, he was still coming back from glandular fever. We're not gonna hold him back for that, surely? If he's fit and healthy, we'd be crazy not to play him.

So you reckon he has earned spot since he last played? Come on we aren’t just giving spots away with this team. Earn it like its life or death.

Great mach sim. This is how we should always train if we're playing a night game. Get them used to the cold and dewy ball and ground.

I got there around 5:45, the boys were either warning up or still coming out onto the track. Treloar and Greenwood were doing running and goal kicking together, and then they finished up and went inside

It was nice to meet you Nick. Not everyday I get recognized lol

Langdon came out and did some nice things. Ran very strongly, and was involved in some ball work alongside Appleby, who as well didn't participate in the match sim. Appleby just got back into main training so they probably thought he should sit this one out.

Bianco did a fair amount of running on the boundary. Clearly his shoulder isn't too bad, but maybe just badly bruised that he is on light duties. Hopefully the kid is alright. Just all part of being an AFL footballer.

It was Blacks v Whites. Clearly the Blacks were the superior team in general. It seems it's basically the round 1 team, minus a couple players who played for the White team. Mainly due to it was 19/19 on each team.

Standards I noticed was De Goey. Kicked 5-6 goals, had 8 scoring shots. Very dominant. On fire. Just like his hair, which I noticed he had redyed the platinum blonde. Did some clearance work in the middle, also down forward.

Elliott also looked good in the middle as well. Clearly the plan for them both is to rotate through both positions, given we have a few forward we can use for that deep forward position.

Noble, also on the black team was quite impressive as well. Just shows what a pre-season can do for him. Imagine another?

No Cox, as he did some running prior to start of the session. Come Monday marks 2 weeks from his last full session, and leading into the game, you'd think that there would be massive doubt.

Cameron did fairly well, some nice clunk marks. And battled well against Grundy. I think there is every confidence he can play his role if he does get the chance to play next week.

There was a moment where Darcy was on Moore, Darcy Moore. Heh I thought it was funny.

Mayne looks fine. Played out the entire session. No issues there.
Mihochek looked good too, with a couple goals himself.
Lynch with a couple as he keeps learning.

Stevo, he was pretty quiet on the wing, to the point where I heard one of the coaches to tell him to go down to the forward line. Clearly wasn't getting his hands on the ball up the ground. But he did manage to get a goal in the later quarters.

Darcy Moore and Elliott were rested in the last quarter. I think a couple others were too. You could tell the whole squad wasn't out there, but everyone did enough. It was so good to see Moore out there, doing his thing. He is always fun to watch just intercept marking, and attacking the football the way he does.

Tyler Brown had this very special piece of play. Makes you can't wait to see more of him.

Sier and Wills both did nice things. I especially found the humour in a sier piece of play gets turned over, and Wills takes possession kicking it to his side of the ground.

Jay Rantall was pretty impressive as well. Kicked a goal and got some clearances through the centre.

Trey Ruscoe, was surprisingly playing up forward.

Varcoe, coming off his shoulder; looked good, as he was playing in the defensive 50. But suits him I think, bringing that pressure we know he loves to do.

Daicos looked really good, he keeps getting better and better. Playing on the wing.

There was no complaints. Everyone played well. Some more than others.

But all in all. No Injuries and a real good hitout. 7 days til round 2!

Soz for late reply Jen,

Just wanted to mentioned our list and how it is blessed with versatility, Billy and the Goey rotating mid / deep forward, Moore could be used as a swingman, Cameron ruck /fwd. WHE a natural forward who can link up the ground, Mayne can be used in the back 6 and on the wing and fwd if really need be.

I doubt there is another team in this competition that has the amount of versatile role for role types like we have. That and the way we (supposed to) play are the aces in our deck.

Also WHE can always play down back if need be, as previously has done when we lose a defender.

I think you are underestimating the versatility of some other lists. Take a look at GWS. Compare Williams and Greene to Elliott and JDG - 4 guns who mainly play other roles but roll through the midfield - their boys have way more runs on the board as mids than our two (Does Elliott have any runs on the board as a mid). Himmelberg or Mayne at either end? Their Cameron could be a sensational swingman, except he's too good a forward to swing back. All their mids could easily play other roles.

Actually yeah agreed on that, I'd argue our versatility would go close though but pound for pound purely on list talent they're ahead of everyone.

Billy hasn't had any real top level time in there to gauge anything yet but the promise is certainly there. Certainly the panel think so.

You'd have Himmelberg every day of the week IMV over Mayne, but that doesn't diminish his versatility. The berg is a super talent but.

He was stiff to miss out in 2018 and 2019 was a lock before getting injured. If Anthony Stevens induction into the hall of fame has taught us anything is that accolades don’t always matter
