In past seasons, the new draftees stand on the sidelines and watch training and generally soak it all up. Presumably they will attend meetings, be given their programmes, get medicals and begin getting accommodation organised. They probably won't be on the track until next week.

They usually have their talking to by the AFL scheduled which is why they don’t train. I’m not sure how they’ll schedule all that this year given COVID.

Yeah. Monday likely the time trial.

But least they should be out there at least.

Day 1. Pre-season.

Players that attended:

Rantall, Quaynor, Grundy, Tyler Brown, Noble, Pendles, Adams, Cameron, Lynch, Kelly, Sidebottom, Roughy, Murphy, WHE, Bianco, Sier, Maynard, Howe, Ruscoe, Mihochek, Keane, Tohil, Madgen, Cox, Wilson

Draftees: Reef, McMahon, Poulter, Henry, Mccreery, Macrae.

I didn't expect to see the draftees train on day 1, as in previous years they usually watch for a while while they do other things inside. So to my surprise, that's what they did do.
They came out with training guernseys on. Still ISC....

Reef was in #26 (Daicos looked to be in #7 inside the gym...), McMahon was in #29, Henry #35, Mccreery in #31, Macrae #18 and Poulter in #27 (kelly was spotting #20)

They did a warm up session first.

Then they split into line groups, and did some, ball work.

In the middle of the ground they were set up for what I thought was a yo-yo test, but it was this..

Of course Rantall wins it.

He won't have too much competition when they do the 2KM at some point (maybe Monday? or first day back in the new year?)

On the sidelines Howe and Tay was doing some running. Adams then participated in the ballm work and training, Howe I think is taking it easy with his knee. Probably will ramp things up post-christmas.

The vibe with the group was good. Lots of smiles and laughs. The draftees seem to be intergrating in the group fairly well.

Reef seemed to be shadowing Pendles for a fair while. And matched up against him in contests.... :O

Post session- Rantall did extra midfield work with the coach, along with Madgen, I think it was.

Cox stayed afterwards as he does and practice set shots at goal.

Sidenotes:

Murphy looked good. Looks fit and if he has a good pre-season I don't see why he shouldn't be in consideration for games early in the season.
Kelly looks strong.
Rantall I think we're gonna see a strong year from.
Sidebottom was everywhere. He will be looking at getting in a strong summer.
WHE took a real nice mark against the flight of the ball.
Bianco with nice skills and kick, always finds a target.

Turning up day 1 and are told who your opponent is..

Good turn out of the senior players.

What, no angst among the player group over the departures of Treloar, Stevo, and Phillips? I'd thought they'd be moping around going half hearted judging by much of the angst on this board.

Hahaha, right?

Nope. Players move on quickly. Shocking yeah? lol Who would have thought.

One might have thought these players who left were dead

But nope I saw nothing to suggest there is any fracture amongst the group
