Honestly, I used to watch a lot of NBA, I've barely seen 5 mins this season.

Give me baseball/NFL over it every day of the year. Hell, on the odd occasion I get to sit on a Saturday, I'd rather watch the NHL given the choice.

The NBA is incredibly boring now. Curry and Harden broke the league. Every team has two or three sets all aimed at getting someone open for a three point shot from high pick and roll. Most starting centres don't know where the low post is, let alone how to score from a post move.

Not to mention that defence is optional.

It's just not fun to watch anymore. The NBA cup is stupid as well, I ****ing hate trying to watch a game on those all coloured courts. Can't see what's going on easily.

I've said before, less is more when it comes to the NBA, I think they'd actually be best served reducing the number of games in their season to make each game mean more. I think there was a study done that said that would actually increase the value of the product rather than dilute it.

It's an interesting one. MLB has a season twice as long and rates really well throughout.

Difference when it's as low scoring as the MLB. When you have clips like the above where teams just rain 3s because defence doesn't matter because ultimately a single game doesn't matter, that's where the issue is.

How is that any different to baseball in a season that's twice as long?

That logic would suggest that it means even less if you're playing a 162 game season.

I stopped watching basketball 10 years ago, and tried to get back into it about 2 years ago. That lasted around 30 games before I just stopped watching. Just some sports are more interesting to me (football, AFL, baseball), and have stayed largely the same as a spectacle, except for the rules. The NBA of today looks a ****ton more different to the NBA that I remember. Nothing but 3 point shooting and zero defending.

I think because it's low scoring there's more interest when scoring happens whereas in a basketball game finishing 130-115 the interest in people taking pot shots at 3s is pretty negligible.

Yeah it's literally who shoots the most and scores the most three's wins. Also if you cannot shoot the three, you cannot be in the league. Doesnt matter if you're 5'10 or 7'4. You gotta be able to shoot the three.

A possible solution is to just pull the three point line further back. But then it's a problem for the corner three. Spacing would be bad if that shot wasnt available anymore. But if you pulled the three back even further to make it so only elite shooters can prosper from that range the game would change again.

Would make the spectacle even worse.

Not to mention, it's a huge benefit for what will be mostly a lucky shot (with some exceptions obviously - Curry would hit them from there semi regularly).
