I'm as pissed off at Griff and the club as everybody else is but we need to step back and realise that they spoke to the players, and there was enough negative feedback for them to believe Macca's position was untenable. I very much doubt that it's a very small number of senior players as we've been led to believe. In that case, it was the right decision - whether we agree that Macca wasn't the man to take us forward or not. At the end of the day the players expressed enough concerns to make Macca think that he could not continue. The board agreed. I don't think we can judge this on the basis of "three or four senior players" as we've been told. There were enough players with legitimate concerns to make this the best course of action.

Thank you!

Or to be more obtuse - McCartney wasn't very good at handling people and Griffen wasn't the only one that felt that way.

fair enough, but dont suck up griffs arse and do a complete backflip ! Gordon should have categorically come out and said he will be traded !

Weak as piss !
I don't think that's possible. It was posturing to get us in a good position to trade him. If we said we didn't want him back, and he didn't want to come back, GWS wouldn't offer us anything of worth as they know he won't be coming back to us no matter what happens.

If he stays, I'm done. But I don't think he will.

You cant go anywhere when you have players holding the club to ransom

- Gordon & Garlick have been asleep at the wheel, letting things build up to this on their watch
- You cant have your so called captain in discussion with another club for the alleged 6 months prior to this happening and take that ****ing campaigner seriously
- The board has to stand up to this shit and ask Gordon to stand down.
- The board has to demand that the players responsible go... the club is tainted with this, Griffen cannot be taken seriously

Yeah, say you're gonna walk in the real world and your boss will say pack your shit. Say it as a footy player and it's 'poor diddums'.

Griff's out pig shooting ! After he went behind our back 6 months ago and discussed a deal to be traded ! Great loyalty !

What a joke Gordon is !

Weak bastards should have backed macca and pissed off Griff and made a stand !

Weak as absolute piss ! Im Fuming !
Shows how mentally fragile Griff is. He lobs a bomb from afar, and then runs away so he doesn't have to hear about the fall out.
I'd always thought he was just an introvert, but I was wrong.

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
We are further away now than we have ever been.
For 30 years we have said that cultural change is what we need. Cultural change by definition will always have casualties.
Those in power that don't want things to change. There is a reason we are not a successful club and unfortunately we have reinforced that today.
I will always buy my membership to this club, I will always pay for my kids, parents, wife, nieces & nephews to be members of our club even though none of them have any interest in the Bulldogs but a BIG piece of me has become unbelievably disillusioned with my club and the AFL in general.
I hope that the joy will one day return but today I feel like absolute cr@p.

I really don't think the tears about Macca leaving are warranted. Losing the players is a serious concern - Gordon used the phrase "critical mass" - that isn't just 4 senior players. And think about who he talked to most last night - Morris, Roughead and Stringer. If they were the 3 players most in his ear, it suggests that they weren't exactly begging for Macca to stay

Like I have written a bit lately - I kind of imagined Macca going soon anyway - the question was what was the best way to manage the transition. Now this IS NOT IT!!! But him going within 12 months seemed pretty likely for a while now. The next coach can pick up the pieces - especially if we rid the club of its cancers - specifically Cooney, Griffen, Minson.

What does concern me greatly was all the Ryan Griffen sucking up during that presser. I can live with Minson staying if he must (although it is not ideal). But GRIFFEN HAS TO GO - both from a 'culture' point of view but particularly from a list management point of view. The guy offers little going forward. And right now he offers our best chance of plugging the biggest holes in our list.

It is a no-brainer. If we keep him around we are as weak as piss, and that will discourage me greatly going forward (I won't cancel my membership though. That is non-negotiable.)

I don't think sacking Macca was the biggest moment for the club. It's what they do with Griffen that really counts.

So what happened in the review that took place a couple of weeks ago? This is a completely reactionary move
