I really feel sorry for you guys. I can't help but think your club has been set back hugely over the last few days. How your president can describe the captain as "courageous" and showing leadership when he's just tried to leave after telling the club's leadership that the issues were sorted I've got no idea. Your youngsters have just been shown a horrific example of how you can get rid of a coach if you don't like what they're doing.

All the best coaches are hugely demanding of their players and staff. But apparently McCartney, who was key at Geelong in developing a great era and then was admired at Essendon too, was "asking too much". Absolutely mind-boggling.

The more I think about it,the more I come to the conclusion that Gordon is only publicly saying nice things about Griff to get the best deal in a trade.

I really do hope so.. I really do

I don't have words to describe how pathetic Gordon and garlic are
- spineless
And virtually begging griff to stay
After impugning his character 24 hrs earlier
Backing macca yesterday
Casting him adrift today

And what is it all about we are none the wiser
And they had to call in players to hear what they all feel? Really!
What self respecting coach would walk into this amateur hour production?
it better be bluff to increase griffs trade value

totally agree... sadly we have a weak , soft culture that is content with going through the motions

Came into the club told Gordo that Loves the club wants to help the club take it where it wants to go. Wat a ******* legend! Just put him as captain right now. Stringer/Stevens combo.
Would get behind Stringer for captain in a big way seems like he's the kind of bloke who'd thrive with the responsibility and probably be a better player for it

So ****ing agry right now. Not for Macca, i thought he would get sacked next year, when a tactical coach could get the most of the youngsters that have developed under macca, but sacking him now, just shot everything in the ass. new logo, new rah rah, blah blah, same old same old, nothing has changed we are still an amature gathering of no hopers. West Footscray Roosters have more credability then this shambles calling itself a "football club" All they had to do was hold firm and **** griffen off and keep the coach, then piss him off next year. but we are being laughed at right now, we just gave the media exactly what they wanted, us to look stupid.

Disgusted, utterly disgusted by the spineless, cowardly mess. Peter Gordon must go, nothing more then a lawyer. a weasal who has words, but no soul and certainly no spine. Weak, shamefully weak...

Griff cared enough about the club

Yea, as Captain he had to rep to board (and obviously not for self interest).. and Gordon specifically gave him credit for this - things couldn't go on ...

Ryan knows more than anyone else on this board .. but to put himself on the trading table without warning shows to me he couldn't handle the stress anymore.
And obviously Gordon and Grant, etc did their own research and determined what was best for the club.

All the "soft **** /hard ****" opinions are bs, 1970's era thinking.
We don't know the full story, but it was obviously pretty bad
Give Ryan a break and try to be more understanding ... he may well be the biggest loser in all this power play .

What happened with them and Gordon last night?

Not sure exactly, however Gordon mentioned that they all came to him last night to speak of their concerns with what is happening to the club. Stringer said he loves the club and wants to do anything possible to see it survive. Thats as bout as much as I got from that commentary
