i'd chuck kerr in there somewhere. maybe out wirra or lynchy. priddis maybe? hes pretty in and under.

Yeah completely forgot Kerr and his consecutive 'playing out the game injured' GFs. But Wirra and Lynchy would definately be up there, both fearless and both have taken a lot of knocks and gotten straight back up:thumbsu:

has nothing to do with punching on, basically just on the field toughness , hard at the ball and hard at the man players, name your 5 toughest:thumbsu:
From North -
Pratt
Firrito
Swallow
Harris
Jones
doesnt have to be in order either guys:thumbsu:

No Jess Sinclair? I know there isn't much to him but he is as tough as they come, i would rate him up there with the toughest players in the competition.

cant fit them all in jacko , the guys i mentioned to me are the 5 toughest i believe . apologies to Simmo, Petrie, Gibson,Edwards , Thompson, Rawlings , Smith, Lower......

Wow, so that is now 13 players you have listed without a mention to Sinclair. I am absolutely shocked......

As i said earlier, i would rate him as one of the tougher players in the comp but you can't find room for him in the toughest 13 players at North....

Looking at other people lists, it seems Freo are one of the toughest teams, even after losing the almighty Troy Cook.

Dean Solomon - One of the toughest in the league. A forward line enforcer of sorts.
Josh Carr - Only need to look as far as the last derby when he practically bashed both Kerr and Cousins.
Antoni Grover - Tough as nails in defence playing on the Gehrig types, often starting wrestles with them, etc...
Shaun McManus - Has never taken a backward step. Knocked out by Wirra a few years ago, but got back up to kick a goal from 50m along the boundary.
Matthew Pavlich - Although a nice guy, has never been nervous in a contest.

Others:

Peter Bell - Never ducked his head in a contest, though small.
Ryan Crowley - Had Woosha out of all people barging into the Freo coaches box to complain about Crowley playing too hard.
Matt Carr - Like his brother, he is as physical as they come anddoesn't mind a bit of the biff.
Brock O'Brien - Fast becoming a cult figure at the port for his toughness, despite his age.
Mark Johnson - Hasn't played a game for the club and might never do, but his toughness is a well known trait.
Dodd - Must run in the family. Not a big guy, but he's a scrapper.
Campbell - Although he hasn't played much, he is a bullocking bowling ball that had no problem slamming into Glass and splitting his head open last year.

The retirements of Andrew and Duncan Kellaway in the last few years has opened up two spots on the list for other Tigers that would probably not have got a look in while those two brothers played.

And by "toughest" I assume we're meaning bravest, most tenacious, most resilient to injuries that would otherwise put a player on the sidelines, and have some "pound for pound" component so we don't just pick the biggest blokes?

1. Nathan Foley - constantly fighting out of his weight division, he has endeared himself to Tiger fans with his rlentless attack on the footy. Yet to show any fear of a contest.

2. Mark Coughlan - Bloody knee injuries. But as usual, he'll be back, most likely to be found under a pack of bodies, and probably with the ball in his grasp.

3. Joel Bowden - Unbreakable. As a large Cat forward told me in a Geelong pub after a game a few years back, he just couldn't believe how many times he had to crunch Bowden for "filling the hole" in front of him, and JB just stood up for more. Constantly plays through injury, a couple of fractured jaws, hands, ribs etc.

4. Jake King - More in the Foley mould of putting his down-sized body on the line in up-sized contests. And like Foley, Jake has quickly won over the Tiger faithful with his blue-collar approach to getting the football.

5. Andrew Raines - Unfortunately other parts of his game went into decline in 2007, but his penchant for running in straight lines, regardless of who blocked his path, certainly didn't.
