Could we offer our 2021 1st pick for pick 8 this year?

That pick 8 will probably slide to 9 and maybe even 10 ( Sydney - Campbell).

We end up taking 3 kids in the top 20 + Reef.

Surely you are familiar with the exploits of Adrian Dodoro well enough to recognise that we've have Buckley's chance of getting anything out of Essendon.

In many ways he's the polar opposite of our list management team - impossible to deal with unless you're overpaying.

Betting everything on Logan being there at 2 is crazy to me. Yeah Thilthorpe may be an SA local but Crows would be nuts not to take Logan to me.

Id rather trade 2021 1st for a couple of picks inside the top 30. And look to take Cox, Callow, Ford and Reef.

I’m of the same thinking. I’d rather get three picks inside 20 and then hopefully Reef. With Daicos to come next year it could be a quick rebuild on the run.

Players been Crap at Demons come good with us.

Look at Dunn and Howe
Sorry td, but Dunn and Howe were not crap at the dees, the dees were crap, but they weren’t.

Hopefully he gets a few injuried drive his $ down lol When was the last time we had to deal with him?
This trade period, reckons we did everything possible to get the deal done between Essendon, bullies and us. Praised Ned.

Howe and Dunn were good players at the demons who fell out of favour.

Oscar McDonald has always been rubbish ever since Trav did a number on him after Melbourne threw him to the wolves on Queens Birthday.

Edit: got the brothers mixed up - Oscar is still not very good though.

Sier is a very capable mid and T. Brown, and will only get better, while Rantall may surprise. Murphy can play back and will offer the option of mid field time for Crisp, IQ, Maynard. And
Bianco off HBF, is Rich sized backman with elite disposal and decision making.

So I think overall JDG will have a number of mates to cover his midfield time if needed fwd.
A realistic outcome for the group of Cal
and Tyler Brown, Sier, Bianco, Rantall, Murphy and Ruscoe would be 1 B grade type, 2 foot soldiers and 3-4 5-30 game types who never really make it. Let’s be realistic, these are later draft picks and none yet have established themselves as best 22. Players at this level if you get 3 out of 6 best 22 you would take it. If we get our next Crisp, Phillips and Blair out of that 6 we will have done very well. They are very unlikely to be the next Treloar and Stephenson. They just don’t have that level of talent.

Rich 183 cm and 84 kg
Bianco 178 cm and 70 kg

Sorry - I meant Richmond

Bianco is 180cm and 72kg (probably put more on weight now, as this was last pre-season)

Would this years first two picks and next years first be enough for North Melbourne’s 2nd pick and a second rounder or two?
On paper it should be more than enough. It’s more than Geelong gave for Cameron and a couple of seconds.

Only thing that could make this period worse is if we re-sign Rupert Wills.

There’s no benefit to re-signing him. We are told that “there’s development within the football club”. There’s no development left in Rupert. He’s wasting a list spot. I rather pick 70 on a mature aged recruit or even a young 18 year old with scope to develop.
He should be offered a contract with the VFL team.

The 5 players you highlight as our hopes for the future all have question marks over them due to their non-selection, mediocre senior appearances last year or application and attitude. You are investing a lot of hope in players who were overlooked or uninspiring in 2020.

I know these players are not worth keeping so why are we? Solid people though!
Wills
Thomas
Perhaps and probably WHE
If you are really going to have a fire sale, then go for it!

This is exactly the reason why Eddie needs to go.

He just can't keep his big fat mouth shut even after his love child actually gave us some relatively straight answers and Ed in all his wisdom is now making the situation worse.
If what he’s saying is true though, that instead of the COVID TPP reduction coming off as a percentage it’s just the total is being reduced and everyone’s contracts will need to be renegotiated, that is a monumental **** up. Especially when the clubs only just got an inkling of list sizes late on in the trade period. The AFL has dropped the ball massively.

If it’s true being the pertinent point

IF what he is saying is true---then their foresight into this would be unbelievable.

The discussion was about covering JDG midfield time if he plays forward.

2020 was a lost season for development without VFL - so not sure it has much to offer in assessing the future prospects of players - it’s premature to write them off.

It’s not a fire sale if you can’t get anything for them.

Thomas could return to some form if he’s played exclusively as a forward, with Stephenson out that is a possibility. He’s a good set shot, competes well and can apply pressure. Hopefully the off-season is kind to him and he attacks it with vigour.

Wills I’m convinced will never make it at the level. His skills are deplorable and he’s too slow. His one wood was poorly executed this season so I can’t imagine there is improvement there. I would delist.

WHE is another Stephenson, a cheaper version I think we have room to carry one soft player in our side and it makes sense for it to be WHE with attributes, speed, agility, leap good overhead and skills.

I don’t think we’ll be delisting anymore...with only two viable picks in the draft and some rookie picks we’ll struggle to fill the roster as is.

If Ed and friends were doing their job properly, we would have many more members than we have now. Needing a complete refresh..
I wonder when the Holden Centre will be renamed with a new sponsor..
Rumour I'm hearing.

Fair but I would say it’s unlikely any of them become the sort of mid that allows JDG to ply his trade on the forward line without our midfield being severely impacted. Both Treloar and Stephenson going forward are those sort of mids. Bottom line we just don’t have the internal talent to cover what we have traded out. We needed it for cap reasons but it leaves us compromised

They surely couldn't put the onus back on the clubs to renegotiate with all 800-odd players on an individual basis. Even Gil couldn't be that dumb surely.

Think you are right. Sounded like Eddie spin
