McCartin, Boyd and Schache.

All described as generational talents by at least one person I'm sure prior to being drafted.

All recent reminders that cashing in all your chicken eggs for one much larger could turn out to be laid by a goose that isn't golden.

While it's fun and fine for all of us to discuss endless trade scenarios at the end of the day it will be how Hine rates this draft and the individual players within that will decide the strategy he believes will give us the best outcome on draft night and it's an almost impossible task for us without knowing this mindset.
Then what are we going to do for the next 3 weeks

Hine might take some players higher then some Think they should

Thats actually some surprising common sense from the AFL in terms of allowing clubs a bit of flexibility in list sizes, although players on salaries above minimum could certainly have taken a bigger hit, maybe up to 10%.

It will almost be funny to watch agents for all the higher paid players scrambling to push that additional 5% of their salary back to avoid losing anything overall.

If you happen to be an uncontracted player at this point in time then you'd have to be more than a bit nervous about your spot going forwards.

So it's 44 players including cat B rookies.

I count we currently have 37 plays, including 3 cat B rookies. So can take 7 players in the off-season. I'd say 5 in the draft and 2 delisted FA
I reckon we’re more likely to go minimal senior list and fill up on our full quota of rookies to save cap space tbh.

Might leave a Few Rookie Spots open for Players to come Train With us to Fight for those Spots

Maximum of 44, but you can have less right?

But 7 would be huge for us. But prob necessary especially for depth.

The cap purge may have been big enough to allow the flexibility to take blokes late in the draft if they rate them and don't think they will make it far into the rookie. Hine used to talk about liking the flexibility of that option. We added Jono Marsh and Langdon that way.

Question for those who may know, has a DFA period been announced. I haven't been following it that closely but I do recall a player agent during the trade period saying that there hadn't been announced at that stage.

One of the slowest lists in the comp and we just got rid of 3 of our quickest players.

Any DFA's have speed? Could use some of that...

Showing how Tight the Salary Cap got

2 of our quickest players. Let’s not pretend that Atu was ever likely to become a member of the best 22.

Atu might not have come on but it still gives us less pace depth.

You do relise that Adelaide are taking McDonald don't you?, so you would have to get pick 1 and that ain't happening
According to Twomey today on the AFL Road to The Draft, he still has no idea who Adelaide will take. He said Hollands,. McDonald & Thilthorpe are in the mix. Not sure where you get the confidence re McDonald.
