If we lose 7 or 8 players, there is no way we draft 6 or 7. Will trade others in for sure.

Nothing unusual about 6-7 draft picks, especially if a couple of them are the rookie draft. I don’t mind loading up on that many in the hope you 3-4 good ones.

I think we have to temper expectations of who is coming.

I'd expect one relatively decent midfielder that can fit into the salary cap and be a part of best 22 - I would have loved the Brad Crouch talk to be true but it is not to be by the looks.

After that, it will be guys we have hardly heard of from other teams that likely play at VFL, WAFL, SANFL or NEAFL level.

Hopefully, they can find the next Grigg and Houli combo.

We still have a lot of development in Graham as a ball winner and Higgins and Rioli as midfielders.

I would 100% be into Sam Collins from Werribee if something happens to someone down back.

Wonder if any chance Gold Coast give us one of those state level mature picks for the miles Ellis combo

Potentially gives us a ready made depth player

Could even get someone from within our own vfl system like Ballard

Could suit Gold Coast as well if they want to keep late picks to match bid on accadamy players

This is what I know and Michaels and a few others on here I past it on to around 3 or 4 months ago what I heard, can back it up.

GWS cap is way over what it should be. The AFL knew it but have done a wonderful job covering it up, as its there club. The one proviso was they had to fix it this off season else the other clubs will call bloody murder and it will be a huge fiasco. What shits me, the bloke I got it from, told me in june! and he believes that some in the media know about it but have been induced to keep it quiet.

Hence why stars like Lobb and Shiel have to be shifted out. It's funny, I predicted exactly what is happening now, was going to happen. I just did not put it on the board here as I did not want to risk getting sued lol. Now its all happening I figure ill spill the beans on the "rumor".

As to Scully, I have asked the question. There are also a few good mids, one from the dogs i have asked the question about as well. At the moment till I would say Friday or Monday it will be just noise. From Monday the real stuff starts to spread and ill share it.

All good mate, cheers for all the info we all very much appreciate it. Just makes sense that with so many going out we'll be getting some back in, if not load on the Draft, but it's a lot of depth to lose to just replace with kids, hence the feeling we'll get some players in too.

Ok, I just did a quick review of our salary cap.

I’m not sure if anyone knows the answer to this question but the average player salary does not correlate with the number of primary listed players and the TPP salary cap. Therefore, a component of player salaries must be excluded from the salary cap.

For example, 371,000 x 38/40 = 14,098,000 - 14,840,000

As you can see this is significantly higher than the reported salary cap but is what they report as the average wage for AFL senior listed players.

Anyways, if the average salary of senior listed players is $375,000 in 2019 we will have a considerable amount of money left in the cap if we lose all the players mentioned thus far..... between $1 million to $2 million on top of minimum ($105k) wage.
