I hope they go full draft and VFL/WAFL/SANFL gems and not any failed players. Our success in this respect has been consistent. Hope they continue it!
Would you have considered Hamling a "failed" player when we picked him up as a DFA?

He didn't even play a game for them though did he? And I thought this was something that we had agreed to do in trade week? He only really didnt get a chance because geelong, at least at that stage, was stacked with KPD talent.

Nevertheless it is probably a fair counterexample. Our history with others' leavings hasnt been too great to be quite honest. I'd just love to see if Dal can nail another draft.

Agree that we haven't always got it right with DFAs.

Bontempelli is a wonderful player for his age, he has Royce Hart like
presence up forward and Scott Pendlebury like poise in the middle.
He is an absolute freak, in the pressured environment that was the
grand final his possession efficiency stood out like a beacon. It
was no surprise he provided two of Tom Boyd's three goals, i do
worry that we are very reliant on Marcus Bontempelli to be that
guy in a time of need, but he appears very durable and very much
up to it mentally even with the pressure of a constant tag.
No need to sell Bontempelli.

He knew were he was kicking both those balls that Boyd got on the end off.

I said after the second one, that's pick 4 to pick 1 again and smiled

Yeah he's special. I recall saying a few times during the GF - "Bonts got it now, he'll use it well" as much to settle my own nerves as anything!

Was also thinking to myself earlier that this team has that unique combination to take us all the way. We have the heart and the will to keep on fighting, but we also have the class to execute too with players like Bont.

We are reliant on him that is for sure but so is our opposition reliant on players like Buddy, Danger, Cripps, Fyfe, GAJ etc.
In fact I think the Dogs proved by having key players out for long periods in 2016 that they are capable of still winning games of footy when understrength.

Whitfield has to be on two strikes. He just has to. No player is dumb enough to do this if they are only copping a first or second strike.

Probably 4 years. Wada toughened the code and his sms's have hung himself. Afl trying for 2 years but have no basis for discount.
Spoke to my brother the other day he agrees with your four, but if
it was just illicit drugs i find that a bit rich and against policy. The
people who signed up to Wada don't live in the real world.
