Please explain. I thought we got them for a points discount. Two absolute blue chip, premium KPF talent for a discount. Every other club is envious that we landed them. But because they haven't given us immediate returns or given us a flag in their first year, then we must have overpaid?

Yep.. I’m confident in Ugle Hagan, and Darcy’s VFL form is seriously impressive.
The whole let’s bag Bev and pretend our midfield is “generational” thing is laughable.
We have a solid midfield, Bont is a gun but he’s not Fyfe or Dangerfield, Macrae is my fav, but he’s an accumulator, we all love Libba, but he could get more of the ball.

Naughtin, Ugle and Darcy is something we could maybe seriously work with, and although Sweet is a gun, misused by Bev (lol of lol),maybe Engish could become a man surrounded by decent players.

Bev really is trying to set us up to be a serious club, and I love it..2 gf’s and a flag…one gf only last year, this year is still on.

Dunkley has a large contract infront of him from Port, multiple years on decent coin and promise of inside mid minutes.

My mail, is his reluctant to leave Melbourne, but if this offer was from a Melb club he'd be gone.

Good riddance I say, he is such a mercenary. West has him covered next year if played in the middle/forward role.

I just think it’s hilarious that someone thinks Bev is destroying our “generational” midfield..when the last generation of Cooney, Griffin, Cross and Boyd was somehow inferior.

I agree. There's nothing special about our current midfield.

We prioritised high endurance over burst speed in the midfield. This hurts us in centre bounces and around the ground. when faced with a zone, they need burst speed to seperate and our guys don’t have that. High endurance is great 1v1 but midfield rarely go head to head and we get exposed.

This has already been proven not to be the biggest problem when we introduced Baz and Treloar to the rotation and continued to get absolutely towelled up on a regular basis because we refuse to or are incapable of setting up defensively.

The lack of midfield speed was a slight issue going back a couple years but it was definitely overstated.

Yeah, I've had a gutful of the song and dance around Dunkley. Once you ask for a trade, there's no coming back IMHO. He was brought back into the fold and he's seemingly ready to kick sand in the club's face again, so he can go.

As for Treloar, if Dunkley goes, he needs to stand on his own two feet and not just be a companion pony.

I think that both our coach and midfield have been overrated at times. It's nothing to do with protecting Bevo. I don't like his gameplan and I don't think he's tactically or strategically a great coach. He is also one of the architects of our list build and so he is responsible for it's deficiencies. But I don't think we have ever had a great list under Bevo. The midfield has been the strongest part of the list but it isn't as good as Melbourne's, in my opinion.

Treloar is a shadow of himself these days. The Pies astutely recognised that he was going downhill and moved him on.

Treloar has only racked up 35 games and 800 odd disposals in under 2 seasons for us.

Very astute of the Pies to give him to us for nothing and pay $300k pa of his salary. What were we thinking.

I’d love us to build on our bottom 6 and maintain our current crop of players.

Bruhn would be an early second at least. Hill wouldn’t cost a lot.

Neither will come to us as I feel their destinations are likely already sorted, but I like the thinking.

Yup! Treloar has been brilliant for most of his time with us.

In what world is Bont, Macrae, Libba, Dunks, Baz & Treloar not an elite midfield,
for people saying it’s overrated honestly which midfield is better? It’s the best top liners and it’s best by an absolute mile for depth. Midfield talent is not the problem.
