Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Keys you may like to sticky this post & move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread if you have one.

Kent Brockman not a done deal yet, still some formalities.
That’s the wrong Kent

Not sure if this was already posted in here, but McClure said the Suns have asked about Yeo and that it’s one to watch.

Old mate McClure eh.

Hi I'm Sam McClure, you may remember me from such statements as Harley Reid doesn't want to go West, and Harley Reid has told West Coast he doesn't want to come.
I'm here to talk to you today about Elliot Yeo.

Please tell me the last time pick 1 was openly up for trade besides last year (we all know why)

I’m unsure how it is over west but here in Victoria it’s basically set in stone which standout player is going at pick 1 and which club is taking him ie Carlton Gibbs/Murphy etc and that pick is not even up for debate, the fact that we have the door ajar for trading the pick is disgusting
Who said it's openly up for trade? That's a Vic media narrative, as well as WA radio blokes, who know nothing about the draft, begging WCE to pick Curtin, for some unknown reason.

It'd be irresponsible to not at least look at what offers come.

Good luck to the Eagles and Flynny ... he's a great bloke who had to wait his time and then got quickly overtaken by Briggs. Hope his contract egts us decent compo
Can't imagine it'd be more than third round eh?

Either way delighted to have him come aboard.

Best of luck next season. We all want to hear the Big Big Sound

Bailey Smith to the Blues?

Yep, that is the part that anyone who is too emotionally invested in Reid is not recognising.

No issue getting upset if we do trade it - about the actual value. But ‘not accepting offers’ would be the dumbest stance ever.

What if it is 2 + 3, or 2,3,4? Or 2,3,4 + F1st? There is a point where it turns from negligence in taking the offer to negligence in not taking the offer.

Will an offer of the second type happen? Who knows, but we should absolutely be comfortable fielding offers (and equally comfortable saying no).

Yeah, not expecting much in way of compo to be honest ... look forward to seeing him next year ... Williams will play F/R and Flynn main ruck?

I will accept this as indication that I'm selling the one we used to call Pieman short. I'm still not going to be drop my dacks shocked if the swap happens and we end up with Dan Curtin though.

I said this myself. He's being asked about Reid and Curtin, no one else.
It is lazy journalism, but I haven't heard anyone anywhere link us with McKercher, even one of the non-hack hacks like Duffield which I thought odd, unless this is meant to be a Chesser Mk II level of surprise.
Because they're blinded by Curtin being the best WA prospect, despite the fact that ROB lives in Melbourne and has consistently picked Vic players in the first rounder over WA prospects.

The risk with Reid is that if he leaves after 3 seasons, we'll be trading for picks in a draft compromised by Tasmania.
Clubs might plainly not have the capital to offer us that will be anywhere near Reid's worth.

Hopefully the club does it's due diligence on Reid's go home likelihood and makes the right call. But if offers like 2, 5 & 19 come in...
We'll have the same risk in next year's draft - All Vic metro + SA predicted to go top 5.

Do you keep trading back for lesser talent because you're scared a player might request a trade home?

Be prepared to never win a flag in the next 50 years if the club has that attitude...

I'm not advocating a trade at all, but if they do trade out pick 1, I hope to see bids left and right for all FS's and Academy tied players to soak up as many picks as possible.

On a topic other than Pick 1, would people be happy trading F1 if it meant getting Curtin/Sanders and O’Sullivan/Murphy?

Our 2024 1st will get us a very nice mid.

This is the draft with many more talls. So I wouldnt bring forward that pick for either of those talls. We can take a tall later this draft. ZZ etc.

I like your point about ROB being VIC based. A perspective I temporarily unlearned. Good stuff

Not at all what I was saying.
I was replying to "if he does end up going home after 3 years we will either have the pick of the litter of any trade offers and/ or will be compensated generously in the draft."

The risk called Tasmania needs to be factored when backing ourselves in with a player that might not want to stay long term in the west.

Osullivan is Vic country. He boards at Xavier. From up the Murray River.

I’m happy with the Flynn signing. Needed a mature body to support BBBW and the developing Barnett. Seemed to put up decent numbers early this season for the Giants and also in the reserves.

I can’t see Jamo getting many opportunities next year, perhaps worth trialling him as a tall athletic defender in the Beagles.

Welcome Flynny!

That risk could happen with anyone we choose that isn't from WA.

- Choose McKercher as the next best available? He could go back to Tassie.

- Pick Duursma? Maybe he gets homesick.

- Walter not available.

Throw a blanket over the rest in regards to go home fears.

So you're straight up limiting yourself to reaching for Curtin because he's considered the only non flight risk in the top 10.

Then next year if you have a top 20 pick you're basically screwed.

So there's zero point worrying about players going home after their initial contract because anyone we pick has the same option.
