Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Keys you may like to sticky this post & move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread if you have one.

Not the draft I expected/was hoping for but the recruiters know way more than I ever will so prepared to see how this cohort pans out

• Harley Reid was a no brainer we just had to shut out the external noise and draft him which we did. The jewel in the crown of this draft and we took him as reward for being last
• Archer Reid was a surprise as a tall forward. Not sure where that leaves the Williams lads. Seems talented but inconsistent and needing a lot of development
• Clay Hall I’m happy with on our list but not only did we take him a bit early, we also traded out our F3 to move up 2 spots to get him. Fills a need as an inside accumulator that can find the ball. His strong body could be useful so don’t mind the player just where he was taken
• Harvey Johnston was a typical ROB selection from nowhere who I know nothing about. The type of selection we’ve made in the past overlooking more highly rated players to take a left field option. History of those picks has been mixed

Will be watching how Simpson and Zakostelsky in particular perform at Fremantle and Brisbane respectively

Overall, for a side that finished last it all seems a bit underwhelming aside from Reid.

But they’re all Eagles now so best of luck to all four lads and hope they whelm my socks off in the years to come

I think we'll be major players next year, we've kept important picks, can have a swing at out of contract players and well on track to being the youngest team within two years.

Going to be a fun journey.

Just allude to the allegations.

Allegation that he may have bullied a disabled person at school. Allegation that the disabled person was forced to leave school and seek treatment for it. Allegation that Schoenmaker was expelled for it.

BigFooty note - these are all unproven allegations circulated by some on other forums and do not in any way reflect BigFooty's opinion.

The Archer pick is the one that I feel threw off the balance of our draft. I didn't really like any tall forwards at that point in the draft and I hope we haven't reached a little for a particular position.

Had we taken Simpson at 30, Johnston wouldn't have been a need and we could have gone ZZ there instead.

Reid/Simpson/Hall/ZZ just feels better to me than Reid/Reid/Hall/Johnston.

Obviously Archer is a 203cm beanpole and will be a slow burn so we won't know the outcome for years. And now he's here he has my full support. If you're reading this go well! Hopefully the Beagles improve and provide you with some actual service.

One of the knocks on Simpson is he lacks versatility. Johnston on the other hand can play a number of roles & is a similar type player. Happy to grab him & Archer over Simpson.

Rookie selection I think should be Patton.
Wouldn’t mind Sanchez, Hine-Baston or De La Rue.

Patton not picked either. We haven't taken any defenders so far.

Or just go best available?

4 picks seems meh even with two Reid's. This rebuild is going to take a while if we only draft 4 players a year guys!

We traded in two I suppose.

Mixed feelings about our haul.

Obviously Harley Reid is our crown jewel and tbh we could have drafted Jarrod Brander, Barrod Jrander and Jrarrod Bander with our next three picks and I'd still be over the moon.

Archer Reid and Harvey Johnston don't excite me too much - admittedly I haven't watched much of them but their highlights don't jump out at me.

Hall I think is a good pick - he seemed to not be a popular prospect for us over this agonisingly long draft period but everything I've seen from him looks impressive.

1. H. Reid :whitecheck::whitecheck::whitecheck::whitecheck::whitecheck:
30. A. Reid :whitecheck::whitecheck:
38.. C. Hall :whitecheck::whitecheck::whitecheck:
49. H. Johnston :whitecheck:

Yeah Johnston has displayed he can play as a high half forward (apparently). We clearly had Hall locked in as our second true inside mid selection which is fair enough as he has played senior WAFL football at a good level.

I think Reid fills a bigger list need than ZZ. It wasn't really a reach he would have been picked up in the next few picks. Simpson at 30 probably would have been a bigger reach.

ZZ was a late conversion to footy and he admits has alot to learn. Kicking improvement one of them and reading the play.

Relied on his athletic ability as a u18 and needs time to understand his role etc.

Sounds like a rookie pick.

Any spots left for the Eagles in the Rookie draft .....

We have 2 list spots that can be filled through either tomorrow’s Rookie Draft or by signing a train on player as a SSP

What would WC have to give up for Tim English next year as a free agent?

Reid

Reid this is the future OA partner. Give him 2 yrs in the WAFL until darling retires.

Hall inside bull. We need this type of player.

Johnston gaffs wing

I'm glass half full here.

If we could pick up Patton as a rookie I'm happy. Leadership.

So one of each
Gun, KPF, Inside mid, outside mid, defender

Kicking improvement is an under statement . He kicked 0 goals 11 points in one game as a forward and apparently put a couple out on the full

I don't have anything against the Crows, don't mind then really, but I imagine as a young kid if I was drafted to them I be a bit mehhh...., they're probably the most boring team in the comp...location, location, location!!
Adelaide's a great city, footy mad state and they are the biggest team in a two team town. Basically the South Australian version of us.

I reckon they'd easily be top 6 destination club if I were a draftee in today's 18 league comp.
