No, once a bid has come in, the club that has to match or decline and is not able to trade out any picks until after that decision is made (match or decline). They can only live trade ahead of the bid. If Essendon get intel that a bid is coming at pick 7, they might wait to pick 6 while it is still in progress, so will then look to trade it out but once that bid is official Essendon cannot do any pick trading until after that pick is finalised.

Are you 100% sure about that? I thought they had the ‘time on the clock’ to live trade ?

If not, I think the Bummers have to get rid of pick-9 …. Saints will bid on Kako for sure after the Bomber disasters they’ve received (Lovett and Carlisle) ….
