Caleb Daniel gives Bevo a fair clip

Another stand rule victim. His ball use from tight spaces set him apart. Now due to the stupid rule there are barely any tight spaces and just about any imbecile can use the ball given time and space.

Should sue Steve Hocking, AFL and their owners, the Geelong Football Club.

I’d love to know why Gerryn didn’t kick more goals. Seems his club preferred to play him in the ruck, they should have left him forward more to get a better look at what he can do
He was killing it in the ruck, racking up midfielder stats, but agree, would have been great to see him play FF for a few weeks.

Bit like when they introduced the below the knees rule and pretty much finished Steve Morris’ career. He used to come in sliding on his knees Like a battering ram

Richmond won trade week.

I have said my thoughts on Liam Baker , Shai Bolton and Dan Rioli being traded.

Liam baker was out of contract so not much could of been done.

Dont get wrong, I wont deny Shai Bolton is a good player. But my dockers paid way too much to get him. Richmond could of kept him for another season or 2. But that depends on what side of the coin you look at.

Dan Rioli was traded. Again like Bolton, you could of made a point of him staying for one more season. But richmond got picks 6 and 23. Had Rioli stayed for one more season, Suns could of made finals or contend for finals. Those 1st and 2nd rounder could of been mid 1st and mid 2nds like picks 10 and 28 or 13 and 31.

I wont be shocked if richmond uses pick 11 or 18 on draft night to trade for a future 1st.

I wont be suprised if pick 20 or 23 or 24 is traded for a 2025 2nd rounder.

You can get long odds from me for Richmond trading any existing pick for a single 2025 2nd rounder. That would be trading a higher value pick in a stronger draft for a lower value pick in a weaker draft.

Also think you are going to rapidly realise you got Bolton at a very good value price. He is one of the best 20 players in the AFL and not necessarily at the weaker end of that cohort. He could easily be the difference in winning a flag.

People said the same thing about when Freo traded in Harley Bennell at the end of 2015.

The late picks (18 +) are worth future 1sts. Not all of them will be traded out but we hold all the aces and can only GWS can logically trump us if they are in the mood for trading out, which remains to be seen.

If you think you got stooged with Shai well that's up to you. But thanks for your concern.

You were going okay until you dropped in this chestnut. (Although thinking Richmond would downgrade a pick in the early 20's in 2024 for a second rounder in 2025 implies you're not totally aware of the reality of this draft).

Mentioning Bennell in the same sentence at Bolton laughable. That'd be like us comparing Polak to Pavlich.

Best 20???
Yeah, every four weeks.
We fleeced Freo.

I know that he monstered the kids in the Colts, but that really doesn't detract from his overall skills.

I don't know what I'm missing, but if I compare him to all of the top rated KPF's in this draft then he stacks up pretty well with the added bonus of chopping out in the ruck, he's the same size as Nank.

To me, he's taller, faster, more agile, stronger, a better kick and as strong if not stronger with his contested marking than any of the KPF's.

I'm sure though that our WA scouts would have a good handle on him and we're well aware of his attributes.
Agree, from the highlights Gerryn appears to have everything . Great mark, can ruck and moves like a midfielder.
Appears to be a bit loose with disposal. But based on what I could see looks a tremendous prospect.
If we were to take Shannahan at 10/11 and Gerryn at 23/24 that would go a long way to sorting out our KF ruck issues.

You're seriously underselling Bolton, and he almost always kills it whenever he plays in WA. Playing half his games there? He's a good chance for AA.

You know nuffin about AFL footy stars...your mob traded away a double Brownlow winner...
Bolton will re-address that stupidity for you...

to be fair Brownlow medal winners are hardly anything special these days

A Norm Smith medallist is clearly the highest accolade at the moment I think

Apparently at Freo!
look at the list of Norm Smith medallists versus Brownlow medallists and Norm Smith medallists are far more credentialled in the AFL fraternity on what they have done

Brownlow medallists are more about money for TV networks and a fashion show and a break for players events wise

True, but it's the Brownlow winners that get the Norm Smith players onto the GF stage...

Do they????
Crippps, Fyfe, Dangerfield, Cooney, none of these guys had Brownlow medal seasons that made grand finals. Or were ex Brownlow or just never made it. Only one Brownlow did it all mate.

Edited

KB did not need any Brownlow medallist to get him on stage, nor did Gary Ablett. Luke Hodge did not get any Brownlow medal assistance in 2008
Not way back then when the game was fairly umpired...
Now-a-days in this contived comp...the best players are looked after by the four onfield umpies...and those players are the Brownlow winners or near Brownlow winners...
It's these players that make it easier for the Normies to shine on GF day...
A whole season of AFL effort to help a Norm Smith player to shine on 'won' day!
