If Freo don't play ball, can we just deal with WCE?
  • Bolton for pick 3 with us picking up some his salary (to sweeten the Graham deal, see below)
  • WCE make a big $ offer for Graham, to deliver us pick 22 compensation.
  • Baker for 13.

Suns give us 6 + 12 for Rioli + $$

Pick swap with Brisbane for 18 (to stop us bidding on Levi Ashcroft).

1, 3, 6, 12, 13, 18, 21, 22

I know that 9+10 is worth more than pick 3, but on the 2025 points allocation it's worth about the same as 10+16. I think that's a fairer representation of the value of pick 3.

Plenty of picks from 2020 haven’t worked out. Draft year was comprised.

He played with the Oakleigh Chargers in their GF year with Matt Rowell and Noah Anderson in 2019. Averaged 11 touches and a goal.

Watching vision of him, he plays a similar role as Cumberland. Not sure if he is any better though.
I see Nippa Gordon

Why would we not pay his entire salary and buy another pick? We have so much cap space, same with Freo. I don't have any mail on this but it would be stupid to not pay for three years of their salaries to grab every pick we can right now.
I imagine that some sort of mix of this will be part of the negotiations, Freo would be the most likely to pay up with picks as their TPP's are tight, next year they'll have the highest amount of top 100 players paid in the league, plus they will want to have a red hot crack at Warner next year which would require a heap of cash. If we subsidised Bolton to the tune of $700k/year for 3 years then that's the equivalent of Band 3 in FA compensation, a 2nd round pick and that's exactly what they have with pick 27

The GCS's have proven themselves to be a basket case when it comes to TPP's, part of that is having to overpay to retain players, losing Lukosious off their books will no doubt relieve pressure, but they still would've offered Noble a sizeable contract to lure him over, so I guess any sort of salary cap relief is a bonus and of course they'll have to pay with a pick or a pick upgrade.

This - not accurate. As many late picks we can accumulate does come into the conversation... because all the points will help us either buy Brisbane's F1, move up the order or trade into next year.
I was speaking from the above scenarios only. OfCourse they will come into it over the course of the draft / trade period.

First deal Richmond should do is trade Bolton to Fremantle for 9 & 16, leaving 10 for Fremantle to draft Allen, thinking that they've won the deal.

Second deal Richmond do is Rioli to Gold Coast for 6 & 20.

In the meantime we 'haggle' with WCE over the deal to send Baker to them. We get them to offer Graham a little bit more so that he gets us pick 22 as compensation, we then trade Baker 9 20 & 22 for 3 13 & 23 from WCE.

That sees Richmond have picks 1, 3, 6, 13, 21 & 23, before we worry about trading our later picks for a R1 pick. We could then discuss with North a deal where they split pick 2 for 6 & 23. Leaving us with 1, 2, 3 & 13

WCE gets Baker Graham 9(Allen), 20 & 22

North gets 6 & 23 to go with 22, Houston Darling & Parker

Freo get Bolton & whoever is available at 10 for being smart.

That article pretty much says West Coast won't be trading their picks out for players they want to still draft youth. If they move pick 3 it will be to split that pick so they can make a play on someone like Bolton plus still draft in a kid.

Muppet Barret reckons Houston is worth more than Bolton.

A half back flanker worth more than a match winner. Shakes head violently.
Geeze that’s like saying Rolli is worth more compared to Bolton

Sure I prefer Rioli he is more consistent in terms of output but Bolton is a genuine match winner and he probably has no match in terms of skill set and adaptability in the entire comp

Probably one of the only players in the comp who could win mark of the year, goal of the year and the Brownlow in the same year

If Freo don’t deal fairly for Bolton, we walk away and Shai comes back.

It’s been agreed by his management and Richmond we are willing to accomodate his request to return home for family reasons only if we get what we want from the trade. I know his management has told Fremantle that and it was said, Fremantle have agreed to deal in good faith because of this.

Is this angling to keep pick 10? Maybe. But they will soon find out, Pick 9 & 10 is the deal and don’t talk to us unless you come to the table. Bolton’s management and Bolton will be pissed.

We hold the cards. We have two contracted players who want to depart. If we don’t get what we want, they come back. It’s very simple. If they don’t like it, they can be angry at those clubs who let them down.

We need to come away from this trade period like we have not provided a win win between our clubs, but a big win for us. We are losing two players who have been keys with long contracts.

Pay up Fremantle and Gold Coast or it will be damning for you.

That was completely tongue in cheek. It was all about screwing Freo given the suggestion that they want to keep 9 or 10 to get Allen.

I expect that Blair will get the deals done for the value we want and the clubs will all walk away feeling that they've 'won' the trades.
