Kane Cornes would ****ing melt

"How can a side that last won their last premiership only 4 years ago, a dynasty team. Be allowed to control 9 of the first 22 picks in a super draft"?

"The AFL is all about equalisation, how is this equal"?

Forget us from 2004. GC have had what, 40 x top-10 picks in 15-years? North have had a gazillion from 2017-2023. As a club you go nowhere if you are such a rabble you can’t retain players or can’t develop them properly as you’ve got no leaders and a coaching merry go round.

I’m all for trading a bit of quality to boost our draft hand. Trading too many will tip the scales too far into ‘rabble’ territory that is bloody hard to extract yourself from.

GC problem was player retention and culture. GWS showed it can be done properly and thats with a lot of player leaving due to it being a shit hole.

As for Norf there just an example of how to make bad decision after bad decision and yet can still come out the other side with a lot of talent which they now have. If he wasn't a ****head then they would have Tarryn Thomas to add to that and if they weren't so horribly run they could of had Caleb Serong with pick 8 in 2019 instead of Charlie Comben and Tom Powell who they traded that pick for. They could have also selected Logan McDonald in 2020 and not won their last game last year and had Harley Reid. I know that is with the benefit of hindsight but the average draft watched would have selected better.

Going to be infuriating how many times the 2004 draft gets referenced in the next 4 months. A time when we had a part time recruiter in possibly the worst draft of all time, opposed to one that is filled with talent.
Yeah, and it’s our own DH’s doing it. ****ing moronic stuff.

who told you on friday night ??
Basically had a seance with Jack Dyer and the dead tiger skin. Where i heard it is of no concern to anyone. The accuracy is.

What did the moths from the tiger skin say?

They told me they used to live in Richos wallet because he was a tight prick who never shouted his mates.

No doubt we will be in the bottom 4 for the next 2-3 years, but is there much difference between a 3 win season and a 7 win season if the ceiling of the 7 win team is the mid table. By trading them all we can get in the u 21 talent that we desperately lack to super charge the rebuild and work to the timeline of the draftees instead of being half way in trying to please the players entering their prime

How many players drafted each year actually make it? Having one draft with a heap of first rounders doesn’t mean we will draft 6 guns. Might only see half turn into anything. I’d rather have 2 first rounders for the next 3 seasons.

Will be interesting to see what we do with the picks. You can't do 8/9 kids in one draft. Let's hope we can spread them over 3 drafts and hopefully sell to some clubs ready to fall off a cliff 😁

Spoken like the evil sporn of Caroline Wilson and kane cornes

Still have Nank, Vlas, Broad, Lynch, Prestia. Surely Taranto and Hopper should be setting standards by the time the oldies leave. How many of these do we need if rebuilding? Most of the team will be young.

I'd be going all in on a rebuild, I am aware that we wouldnt have won a game this year without Rioli and Bolton, so next year will be interesting.

The thing on trading Bolton and Rioli and Baker leaving, is that Yze cant really allow this to happen. The next 2 years will be terrible and no coach is surviving a win/loss that bad for 3 seasons.

Whatever happens I think we can all agree the club need to sort out where it is heading and when the next crack at a premiership is meant to be and get everyone aligned. If they keep Rioli and Bolton fine, but tell us you are trying to win a flag in the next 4 years and be held accountable for that. Last off season we kind of did nothing (had no 1st rounder to be fair) which meant this year was always going to be bad and it's produced one of our worst ever seasons.

I don’t disagree but it’s about culture as well. Most of those you listed, are 30 plus. We’ll have no one in the middle aged bracket.

Short, Hopper, Taranto, maybe Graham, Miller, Balta, Kozi, Ross. Hopefully 2021 crew step up by time Vlastuin, Nank etc go. Always have FA to fill in some gaps if its not enough.

I’m all for getting rid of some players to get some good young talent in.
Not only this year but get some 1st rounders next year aswell.
I’d be aiming to have 4 this year and 2-3 next year aswell.

Something like…..
  • 1
  • Shai’s trade (picks 7 and 12)
  • whatever pick with trade for with our 3rd and 4th rounders.

Then next year
Top 5 pick (our own)
Rioli’s trade (GC first + second)
Bakers trade (Freo first+ 3rd)

That’s 7-8 really good picks over 2 years. You don’t want to throw all your eggs into one basket, so using the picks over 2 drafts gives you a lot more flexibility. Especially if a player of interest is available for trade..

No guarantee that 6 picks over 3 drafts end up with 6 guns. What we do know is this years draft is stacked with talent and top end of next years appears to be very strong.

Take the picks to the draft and see which clubs bid the most to get ahead of either us or another team to pick the player they want. Options like threaten to take Kako (any other draft he would go top 10) with pick 6 and in doing so wiping Essedons pick from the table or they trade us their future first and current pick for pick 6 and get two top 10 talents while mortgaging their future.

By finishing last and possibly having so many high picks we will have so much leverage.

And how many are AFL ready in their first or second year. Sure, there are a few, but the majority need a few years before they make an impact. It’s going to be a grind.

Twomey reporting that:
  • Baker torn on whether to join Fremantle (success on the horizon) or West Coast (club he grew up barracking for.) Sounds like staying at Richmond isn't even a consideration.
  • GC poised to offer 11 and 20 for Rioli. It's up to Richmond whether that offer turns their head. (I don't know why their earlier pick wasn't mentioned, but maybe that's what we ask for?)
  • Freo still really interested in Shai Bolton and the feeling is mutual. He wants to get back home. I wonder what we do there.

I guess the disappointing thing for me is that these senior players who have had success at our club are even considering it. I'd have loved for one of these guys to come out and knock it on the head and say "I'm here for the long haul and will be doing everything I can to help Richmond return to where we want to be."
There’s a part of me that feels like I’ve woken in the gutter with my pants down but the other part of me realizes we’ve endured the worst year in the clubs history ,,,FACT ,, these guys were a part of that playing just about every game and made no ****en difference so they need to be the cornerstone to our rebuild in cashing these assets in for prized pics

Why can't we take 9 kids in the one draft? We took 13 in 2009 to kick-start Dimma's build, and most of those were late picks.
