Actually, what is the process.Hopefully we walk away from the trade if they somehow match the offer.

BrilliantWere they ever even from me
Part of his value is his free agency. If we have to trade for him his value is reduced. I'm just being pragmatic.
If Sydney match, Hewett can decide to stay or leave.Actually, what is the process.
Can CFC up the ante - I wouldn't have thought so.
If Sydney match - is it up to Hewett to accept or not.
If he doesn't accept what's next? I'm not too sure
Oh for sure but hoping Sydney doesn't match and it goes through smoothly.
yep, just needed a little soap to to lubricate the deal..........If Sydney match, Hewett can decide to stay or leave.
If he elects to leave, Sydney and Carlton negotiate a trade.
Thanks for that - extremely clear info!If Sydney match, Hewett can decide to stay or leave.

I believe clubs can register their decision not to match prior to the three days expiring. Thanks for that - extremely clear info!
A quick question - why does Sydney have 3 days to counter, but we already have two players already traded - without those 3 days to counter by their former club?
Because the other two were unrestricted free agents. Hewett is restricted so Sydney have the opportunity to match. Thanks for that - extremely clear info!

Yeah this is what I thought as wellI believe clubs can register their decision not to match prior to the three days expiring.
Eg. Tigers formally indicated that they are not going to match Chol, so the player is allowed to officially move prior to the three days expiring.
Two reasons to match. One is to keep the player. Other is belief you can get a better pick via trade. Given negotiations for Cerra, trade could become messy. Sydney have to work out what's best for them... But I cannot see why they would match as I cannot see how they would get a better pick without a lot of hassle... Just the way I see it...If Sydney match, Hewett can decide to stay or leave.

Yep, I really don't expect Sydney to match. Hewett likely to be a Carlton player as early as tomorrow. Two reasons to match. One is to keep the player. no, that included.Except real estate which is still technically a financial market ...
I’d argue that the terms of the offer are predicated on us not having to give up anything for him. If the cost changes changes (ie it’s now 4x450 plus a late first rounder), then I think the cost/benefit analysis changes for us.Why would we walk away.

If Sydney do match they will have to go to the back of the line and wait for us to do the Cerra deal. I don't think we will want to give up a second rounder (given we need that to get KP depth) and they should get a late 2nd or start of 3rd.I’d argue that the terms of the offer are predicated on us not having to give up anything for him. Its also why Sydney won’t match just to force a trade, we could walk away. They’ll only match if they can afford to keep him IMO
Not much in the way of highlights for hewy. What would he be considered, B or B+ grade?
Plays in any arc, but hopefully we use him in the middle, unless he takes Stocker's role at HB, then add Stocker to the middle
Also a top 3 tagger in the compHe should definitely be playing in the middle, he's not a big penetrating kick nor overly quick but he's suited to contested footy and very composed with the ball in hand.
