Maybe how the club treated him in the last 6 games of his time with us.. but not on his whole career.

If SPS had of played the last handful of games we'd be talking about a player who was:
- a former pick #5;
- played close to a 100 games basically without missing a game (twenty games first season, every game in 2018 and 2019, missed one game in 2020)
- averaged 16 touches and 4 tackles a game over his career.

That's a better profile than a George Hewett, or a number of other players.

Teague really f’ed us with his treatment of Samo.

******* disappointing.
It's really not a better profile than Hewett

Its the Carlton tax, we are expected to pay more.. and receive less. We have become so conditioned to this many of our fans simply conform to it.
No they don't.

Given he's:
  • a former Pick #5 (vs #32 for Hewett); and
  • his record is basically the same as Hewetts (one less season and twenty or so less games, averages two less touches a game, same number of tackles per game)
Then, yes i'd say if it was ordinary trade math absent Samo being a Carlton player - then the media and other commentators would have Samo rated very highly and higher than Hewett

It’s hard to know what SPS thinks about his team mates and the club and it’s easy to imagine that in his eyes it’s untenable for him to stay.

What’s clear is Teague was very damaging in his 2+ yrs in charge which was just wasted.

Just need to get the best trade result possible from WC and move on.

Spot on, our best outcome is for Voss to be able to talk some sense back into Samo and have him believe in the club again.. He is also less likely to become a best 22 player at West Coast next year than he would Carlton..

I can see it happening. Easily.

Don't think Samo is desperate to leave, he's probably just feeling like he's a bit on the outer, and WC would have been in his manager's ear ever since he got drafted.

May come down to whether Voss sees a genuine need or starting position for him. Hard not to with his skill set, and I'd ay Voss will back himself in to get Samo playing a suitable role with a bit more intensity.

I think the Lewis Young trade might be something like :
SPS to WC
Pick 29 to WB
Young to us

Essentially become SPS for Young

The Lewis Young thing is a risk that could go either way for us.
You just have to think he’s made of the right stuff if Voss and Austin want him on the list.

sorry - but SPS has finished in the top 10 of the best and fairest once - 10th in 2019 - https://www.blueseum.org/Stat+Shot:+S+Petrevski-Seton

hewett has done it consistently (2nd in 2019, 7th in 2018, 5th in 2017)

im a fan of SPS, but Hewett is an upgrade

I agree entirely, but i'm saying - we should be wanting more from SPS than a nothing pick. Something inside #30 is the minimum and we could have been in a position to demand much more if Teague didn't **** him up.

If Teague didn’t **** him up we wouldn’t be demanding more anyway. There’d be more likelihood he’d be happier and settled at Carlton and not looking to move

Is he an upgrade on Ben Silvagni or Macreadie?
That's not hard. He's played 24 games, so 15 more than Macreadie and 24 more than Ben.

Looks like his best game might have been against us in 2017 with 21 disposals & 9 marks, playing down back.

At 201cm he's a decent height, taller than Ben (195?) and Macreadie (198?), so that's going to help his chances of becoming a genuine key defender option down the track.

Was being silly tbh.

Didn't realise he was 201cm. Originally was drafted as a forward....

Wish him well.
