RICHMOND and Adelaide are among the clubs interested in Gold Coast's pick No.3 with the Suns open to splitting the selection for multiple top picks.

The Suns inquired about trading up to pick No.1 with North Melbourne listening to offers, but the Roos are strongly tipped to hold the selection with South Adelaide teenager Jason Horne-Francis in their sights.

As reported in Inside Trading earlier this month, the Suns are open to trading their top-three pick for two early selections, which has seen the Tigers show interest. Richmond is well placed to make a move up the board with picks 7, 15, 26 and 28 inside the top 30.

The Tigers could package multiple selections to jump up the order, with future picks also an option at their disposal.

The Crows hold pick No.4 at the draft but that will be bumped back to No.6 after bids on father-son pair Nick Daicos and Sam Darcy and they have also shown interest in potentially edging up the board. Adelaide also holds pick 23 but will also be looking to negotiate a trade with Sydney for Jordan Dawson.

Finn Callaghan, Ben Hobbs and Josh Ward are all midfield options pressing to be top-six draft picks, while Josh Gibcus and Mac Andrew are the tall options in the mix outside of Darcy.

Any pick swap deal at the top end could come much closer to November's NAB AFL Draft, however, with clubs able to swap selections up until a week before the event – and then again during the draft. - Callum Twomey

Would of been a lot easier to get it if CCJ had of chose Gold Coast instead of Norf…

I believe CCJ may still end up at GC.
I believe we had a deal with them for either a midfielder or picks guaranteed, hence we didn’t up grade our offer to him.
We may try to persuade him there IF they still want him as they now secured Chol ( interestingly after the CCJ announcement).
Let’s see ….

LIFELINE EXTENDED FOR TIGER
RICHMOND mid-season draftee Matthew Parker has committed to a new one-year deal to remain at Punt Road in 2022.

The 25-year-old was plucked out of South Fremantle in June, having been delisted by St Kilda after a two-season stint last year.

Parker's agent, Anthony Van Der Wielen of Empire Sports Management, confirmed his client would soon ink a fresh contract to remain on the rookie list into next season.

Parker played the final six games of the season for the Tigers as a midfielder/half-forward.

The WA native returned to Perth at the end of Richmond's campaign and was given clearance to play for South Fremantle in the WAFL finals. After a quiet return against Claremont in week one of finals, Parker collected 26 disposals and 10 tackles in the Bulldogs' loss to Subiaco on Saturday.

His side will again face Claremont on Sunday for a place in the WAFL Grand Final against Subiaco.

Parker's signature will leave Richmond with seven players out of contract. Sydney Stack is expected to ink a new deal, but Derek Eggmolesse-Smith, Noah Cumberland and a trio of key backs – Bigoa Nuyon, Ryan Garthwaite and Ben Miller – all remain unsigned.

The Tigers have committed to bringing in North Melbourne veteran Robbie Tarrant on a two-year deal to replace the retiring David Astbury. - Mitch Cleary

Cumberland has shown a bit at VFL level so I wonder if they’re keen on re-signing him. Of the others Stack and Miller would be priorities you’d think. Any of the others will be lucky to be retained.

Matt Parker extends contract until end of 2022

excellent to hear…worth persevering for a full season (after a full pre season with us)

MP is playing in the WAFL finals…playing very well

His team Sth Freo will play Claremont in the prelim Sun 26 Sep 240pm Perth time

He’s had a great finals series so far. He’s probably been the difference for them

It's a big 'if' though. What does it leave us with should they take Callaghan? Possibly Ward but he could be there at pick 7 and if not him then there's others that will be.

Guess you have to ask 'why are GCS trading out of pick 3'? My take is that they see this as a very even draft after the top 4 and would get 2 x players of similar talent instead of 1.

If it was GWS pick 2 then that's a different story.
What if we could get pick 3 without losing pick 7!! That would be awesome. What do you think about this trade hypothetical:
1. Trade pick 28,44,45 (1,386 points) to WB pick 17 so they can get points for Sam Darcy (provided we get pick 45 compo for Chol)
2. Get Pick 20 for CCJ (hopefully)
3. Trade 15, 17 and 20 (or 26) (combined total 3049 - more than pick 1 total!) to GCS for Pick 3 while still retaining pick 7.

We may overpay GC in that final trade but is probably necessary to get the deal for pick 3 - At the end of the day we;
Gain: Pick 3
Lose: Pick 15,17,20,28,44,45

We walk away with -
Picks: 3,7,26,40

Could be an option as we have some crazy draft capital. As it stands no way would our club be picking up 6-8 players in the draft. I see it as needing quality over quantity and having pick 3 and 7 would be amazing.

Would love to draft Ben Hobbs and Josh Rachele with picks 3 & 7.

Thats way too much to give away for 4 spots. We need to keep 17 or 20 or they give 2nd rounder next year.
We cant sell the farm for a potential Golden Goose that could end up being Foghorn Leghorn.

I'd only trade up for Callaghan, and even though GWS might feel talls are a much pressing need for them at 2, he's going to be the best available there.

If we are looking at Ward/Hobbs etc, there's every chance one of them will be there at 7

Given RFC is at the pointy end of contention now is not the time to flirt with an opportunity at this end of the draft.

If one can get Ward/Hobbs/Gibcus or whoever and another good one with pick 7 such as Eramsus or whoever we would be mad not to take it.

If we want a selection in the teens we can trade our future first. Moreover, if GWS want to trade out 13 we can get a indication of what they are thinking and add on extras if its of more benefit to us.

I seriously doubt we will have a top 10 pick in 2022 let alone 2023 etc..

If anyone needs some comic relief I highly recommend the Carlton board…..a couple of real rib ticklers…:

1. Rumours Dow may want to go to Tigers and apparently he’s worth nothing less than pick-20.

2. Very, very happy with the Hewett selection and suggestions he’s on the cusp of becoming elite.

There’s more gold over there…. just a treasure trove of delusion.

Pick #40 at most

Dow is contracted for 1 more year and if Carlton get Cerra / Hewitt then things dont look too good for Dow
Who would most likely be getting $400k.

Carlton can either pay him $400k another year and play him in the VFL then he becomes delist mteril
Trade him for #40 save $400k

There was rumors around last yer that his parents were not so happy with Carlton and had asked if Richmond could do something about bringing the brothers together. But 2 years to go on a contract would have been impossible

There's no way any of Callaghan, Ward or Hobbs are there at pick 9, but at least two of them will be there at pick 5.

Gold Coast have plenty of young kids. They're probably wanting to draft to fill certain holes, rather than best available. Hence why having a top end pick may not be as important to them.

Only way i see it getting done is for 2022 1st rounder

GC dont need later picks as they dont hve list spots , If that fool CJ had selected GC then would have been perfect
2022 1st rounder + Cj

Charity contract, not in the top 30 when all fit. I don't understand why ..... he does not fit a need......surplus
Clearly the coaching staff see it differently. He's done everything that's been asked and with a full preseason at the club, will prove to be an asset.

im not sure i like the idea of trading 7 and 15 for 3. the best 3 players of the draft 5 years on are rarely the actual top 3 picks, plenty of absolute superstars come from picks around 7, and there are more than enough from picks 10-20 to mean we are a good shot there too. id be happier if we could turn ccj into pick 38, turn 28, 38, 44, 45 into pick 14 from the dogs, and turn 14 and 15 into 3 from the suns, though not sure theyd do that.

I really don't get how GC have no list spots with such a shitty list. What are those campaigners doing? :drunk:

Miller , Stack , Nyoun are the paers that surprise me that are still uncontracted
all are low $$$ signings and players we would be intending on keeping
