List is a little bit odd for us, has Aarts and Castagna who have now been pushed out of the best 22 plus Caddy and Lambert who haven’t played a huge amount games

Swap those names for Balta, Bolton Gibcus and Ross who have played the majority plus Sonsie and Rioli it drastically changes our list profile from an older one to a much younger one
In relation to their age profile I went with the oldest 22 players on the list, after all these players constitute what is available for selection.

Yeah it’s a decent guide but just a little off since it’s missing walk up best 22 players in Bolton and Balta

Including those two at a minimum for Caddy and Parker gives a more realistic snapshot imo

Old news......

Don’t rule out this Vic club nabbing De Goey

Rival clubs believe Collingwood bad boy Jordan De Goey’s days in black and white are numbered, with a move elsewhere at season’s end considered as good as certain.

It’s been a tumultuous past 12 months, even by De Goey’s standards, and his mid-season Bali escapades may have been the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Geelong has been heavily linked to the restricted free agent but is also weighing up moves for Giants Tanner Bruhn and Jacob Hopper, who boarded at St Patrick’s College in Ballarat.

That has some installing St Kilda as the favourite to win De Goey’s services – but don’t rule out Richmond making a play for the midfielder-forward.

The Cats and Saints are most commonly mentioned in dispatches about the in-demand Pie but there have been industry murmurs about the Tigers for a little while.

They are in the market for an on-baller, with Hopper and GWS teammate Tim Taranto also understood to be in their sights if they choose to leave.

The initial thinking was Richmond’s interest in De Goey was because it feared Dustin Martin was leaving, but the belief now is that Damien Hardwick’s team can fit both stars in.

Triple premiership midfielder Kane Lambert retired this week, while it’s unclear whether Shane Edwards, who will play his 300th game this weekend, will continue in 2023.

We could easily miss out on both Taranto & or Hopper.
And end up with Dow & Crouch.lol
Not the worst thing in the world when you consider we'd be then hanging onto our 1st and two 2nd round picks, most likely all about 10, 20 and 28-ish. It would be a ballsy move by our list managers, and definitely signify we're in a serious rebuild.

I could without Dow and Crouch though, even if they were both for 2022 and 2023 3rd rounders.

Personally, I'd like Bruhn for one of the 2nd rounders.

I’d be cooling my jets on pies being better moving forward. This year, Possibly the worst team iv seen to win 11 in a row. Just a extremely even/weak year. Anything is possible. Not sure you could bank on them repeating this next season.
Yep agreed! Their percentage, which can often be a very good indicator of true form, has them in 9th place (we're in 6th)

I'm not fussed either way Ghost.
But we need 2 not 1.
This year its 2 of Taranto/Hopper/DeGoey or Dunkley
or go to the Draft again
Next year go hard for Green/Serong/Rowell/Anderson/Callaghan.

I also think that they're over-performing and looking better than they are, but worst team to win 11 in a row has a similar ring to worst premiership side (obviously less impressive), it's still a massive achievement and a pretty clear indication that they're on the right track and are playing some pretty good footy

Shows how emotion can still be the biggest factor in how a side performs
Pies list is by far middle of the road with a few guns but mostly role players and some glaring holes that someone who likes to have a balanced beat 22 would love to fix but they manage to make up for those holes by playing as a cohesive unit and riding the wave of emotion

The question will be if it can sustain them for the rest of the season

Agree. They are pretty much rolling out the same game style we did in 2017 with similar list strengths. They have a solid backline and Hard running midfield. They have a few handy small forwards but They’re short on key forwards though where we had at least one A grader in Jack.

It’s a style that’s proven to hold up in finals. They are going to be a handful for anyone that meets them in September

I’d prob stop short of completely slapping them down but when u consider the likes of Freo and blues and lions have all been pace setters at some point , it’s a wacko year and all points to if you trade and draft without fking up you can rebound quickly as they all ain’t that good

We had jack Rance and dusty that they don’t have equivalent but it doesn’t really matter as I reckon they got most covered in ‘22 which is what relevant , likely to have home finals possibly v interstate sides , that has been there nemesis previously ,,, I actually think we would be their greatest danger with lynch and dusty in

If you’re going to go after Taranto or Hopper you kind of need to go all in on both. One player won’t rocket us back into contention but two very good mids to go with Prestia and Bolton will.

I’d also be into Tarryn Thomas from North.
