None of our kids jump out when you see them jump out and say I’m a star.
They either can’t get their hands on the footy or butcher it when they do.
Unfortunately sounds like most of our side last week. What has happened to some of our kids gone backwards this year.

My only question is to where exactly are we getting the multiple top 10 draft picks to get these stars

We are either bottoming out for years of pain or trading out players with currency like Bolton

Either way isn’t going to be fun
I expect min one of jack G and soldo will be traded , should be a r2 ea you’d think to bolster our hand . Coll have developed their list without early pics , except daicos

At the end of 2021 how many would have backed the Pies forward of

HF: McCreery Mihochek WHE
F: Elliott Cox Johnson

Would be the 5th highest scoring in the comp 18 months later?
That’s exactly my point , has been a funny year though as I said previously the key forwards amongst the contenders won’t have too many hall of famers amongst them

Soldo was on the trade table last year and elected to stay and Graham explored his options
Maybe Graham leaves but doubt Soldo does if he was it would of been last year

Collingwoods list is being carried by a very old core

Mihocek (30)
Elliot (30)
Crisp (29)
Hoskin Elliot (29)
Pendles (35)
Adams (29)
Mitchell (29)
Sidebottom (32)
Cox (32)

So their list is essentially where ours was two years ago before we hit the cliff

They haven’t built this current list we are witnessing it’s final chance for success

Fair point, I'll pay that.

Proud of a sub-50% winning ratio?
That's Carlton talk.

The competition is set-up to ensure teams cannot remain on top for too long. Cats have bucked the trend (home ground advantage, Dangerfield, Cameron) and they are the exception to the rule…. but what about the performance of other teams post a relatively dominant little period they have had:

Lions 2005-2018: 2 x finals games (in 2009) for 1 x finals win.

Hawks: 2016-23: 3 x finals games for zero finals wins.

Sydney 2017-2021: 4 x finals games for 1 x finals win.

Saints 2011-2019: 1 x finals game (2011) and zero finals wins.

Pies 2013-2017: 1 x finals game (2013) and zero finals wins.

Freo 2016-2021: zero finals games.

Dogs: 2011-2015: 1 x finals game and zero finals wins.

Port 2008-2012: zero finals games.

Crows: 2018-2022: zero finals games

So here we are less than 2.5 seasons post dynasty. And we’ve had 1 x finals game for a loss.

Many of the teams above didn’t see 1 x flag before going on extended periods of hopelessness …. we saw friggin 3. Yet for some reason we are expected to buck the trend shown by basically every single team who has had a period of dominance (except the Cats) and re-emerge as a dominant force within a couple of years of a dynasty…???

It’s just unrealistic when so many measures are in place to ensure an even competition.

So the fact we are 50/50 post dynasty despite so many challenges on and off the field is a good effort based on history.

It’s disappointing to cough up so many close games. It’s disappointing the ARC f*cked us in the Lions final. It’s disappointing the ‘sttttaaannndddd’ rule was introduced to knobble us.

I’m confident we have the talent and have the ability to re-emerge sooner than we think. Just don’t be surprised if there’s a little more pain … it’s just what happens in a competition with a draft and a salary cap.

As I said on paper our future forward line that I named doesn't look that threatening based on current form, but put a bit of time and effort into developing the talls in particular and making adjustments to the game plan to better suit their strengths rather than Jack & Toms strengths like we currently do.

With the change to coach maybe the new coach elects to load up at the draft. That could be trading or letting players leave on free agency to get a draft pick (rather than letting them retire at us), so maybe broad has some currency, soldo now that he is number 3 though who would want him, maybe Graham, there's not much draft picks coming in for what we have but it would be a start getting a couple of second round picks in. Maybe with all that we would be lucky enough to take a salary dump?!

He activated a clause in his contract that will allow him to play on in 2024.
tough times ahead.
Caddy played in the VFL for the last year of his contract. Retired half way through the year.
Interesting to see if retirements are sped up or trades made. Prestia is playing like shyte since the giants boys joined.
I thought one additional midfielder would have the effect on us like Dunkley is at
Pies trading out Grundy and Treloar.
