My only question is to where exactly are we getting the multiple top 10 draft picks to get these stars

We are either bottoming out for years of pain or trading out players with currency like Bolton

Either way isn’t going to be fun
Early picks are also no Guarantee's
You just need to see whats going on at the Blues and where they are at after 20 years of top picks

Then you have a look at the way Collingwood , Brisbane and even Port have gone about it the last 10 years with limited top picks
We have alot of kids that are still unknown and have some talent thats will keep us reasonably competitive.

Taranto , Hopper , Balta , Bolton , Short , Rioli , Vlastuin , Graham , Gibcus , Ryan , Sonsie , Baker
The list above is no worse than where Collingwood were 24 months ago

Foward line is the issue and with 1-2 additions of younger player stepping up wont take long to get back up

We'l have jack, Trent & Dusty finish at the end of the year. That's a lot of experience and talent out the door and replacements are not there or ready!
Tough few years ahead.
Just like the good old days tough??

We are in a very tricky spot with all things considered. We don't have a first-rounder this year and that will hurt the rebuild.

In regards to trading players for picks, what would we get for certain players?

Broad leaving would net us an early second I assume (600k-700k contract?) Dusty might get us a second rounder or late first from a contending team. Lynch would be worth a middle-late first from a contending team.

It's not really worth trading Lynch and Dusty and letting Broad walk for a draft haul of two teen first rounders and two early seconds.

We get Himmelberg as a FA to help not completely bottom out and then take our medicine and try and trade into the draft next year somehow.

This. Lynch good for another 3 years, MRJ and Cumerland should hopefully get back to what he has shown, then we only need another couple. We haven't even seen Banks, Brown, Campbell and Steely have a crack yet. I'm bullish on Banks as well.

Would like to really see Brown as well
Could be a great Vlossy replacement down the track
Hopefully he can put some good footy together in the back half of the year and push for his debut

Why does AFL footy have such lame ‘experts’.?? When asked about Richmond’s future, Hodge says it’s a concern as for those 29yo and over Richmond has 11 of their best-22., as do West Coast.

But let’s look at R1 2024 after Cotch, Jack and Tarrant retire.

Players 33+ in best 23 = 0
32+ = 2 (Grimes and Dusty)
31+ = 2 (Prestia, Lynch)
30+ = 1 (Broad)
29+ = 2 (Nank, Vlastuin)
28+ = 1 (Short)
27+ = 1 (Hopper)
26+ = 4 (Rioli, TT, Graham, Baker)
25+ = 1 (Bolton)
24+ = 1 (Balta)
23+ = 3 (Ross, Cumberland and Ryan)
22+ = 1 (Ralphsmith)
21+ = 2 (Sonsie and MRJ)
20+ = 2 (Gibcus and Clarke)

This is based on Hugo and Ross/Clarke being preferred to Macca and Pickett, which is highly likely.

Doesn’t include unknown kids such as Brown/Banks/Bauer.

Also doesn’t include depth players who are under 27yo like Miller, Soldo and Mansell.

So our age profile is in a great spot for future growth.

I don't think Miller (or Tyler Young) are depth players. Next year one or both of them should be pushing to be in the starting 22 to allow Balta to play a more attacking style. The biggest issue is that we do not have a second KPF in our best 23. This is why Lynch's injury has made our whole forward line structure so uncompetitive in the air. If we cannot find at least 2 competitive KPF next year, then we will struggle again.

Tough few years ahead.
Dustin Martin is determined to honour the length of his contract with Richmond and is already considering playing on beyond the end of 2024.

Those close to the three-time Norm Smith Medallist made it clear on Tuesday that the 31-year-old would not be following coach Damien Hardwick out the door of Punt Road.

Martin’s connection with Hardwick was one of the reasons why he stayed at the club at the end of the 2017 season, which helped lead to a triple premiership-winning era for the Tigers.

That link has also been significant in Martin choosing to stay with the club in recent seasons when it looked likely he could move north.

But a source close to Martin told Moneyball that he remains “Richmond through and Richmond” and wanted to see out the terms of his much-talked about seven-year-deal, which he signed just before the 2017 finals series.

Martin’s body was in “immaculate condition” as he looks to get back to his best footy following some strong performances in the past few weeks.

He will reach 300 games if he plays on next season with the Tigers, which now seems likely, despite Hardwick’s exit and likely retirements of Trent Cotchin and Jack Riewoldt.

Martin is said to be enjoying his footy, even if the Tigers have been struggling, though it is expected a few rival clubs could inquire about his availability at the end of the season.

Alot has been said about us not having a first round pick this season. We can always trade our future 1st for a 1st rounder this year if we're desperate to get into the draft early this year. Buy now, pay later. Dees have down that well over the last 5 years. It's really not the end of the world.

can we do that? Didnt we already give away a future first so we cant do that again?

Suns might come to the party seeing that their picks will be eaten up by rated academy kids.

Would be funny if we ended up trading a future 1st for a similar pick to what we gave GWS this year then ended up climbing the ladder again next season. Cornes would be fuming.

Dusty is destined to be a 1 club player, he loves the club .

By all accounts he’s back in a good space , even renewed an old friendship with Ali Johnston ( daughter of Wayne Johnston).

Reckon we’ll see some good form for the remainder of the year
