I actually rated him highly in the under 18s. Covid years and glandular fever definitely halted his development but he has good potential.

This is the type of opportunity we should jump on. Let teams like norf use a high draft pick on a highly rated player who just needs to be in a better environment and then we pounce with a third rounder offer on the out of contracted player. Worst case is he can walk to us in the pre season draft for free. His salary wouldn't be high either.

With the potential of prestia and dusty finishing up as well as the potential of losing baker and Graham, why not take a risk on this kid. Low risk with a chance of high reward.

I don't know their list well but if there was a young player we could use not getting a game, plus 1 or 2 picks considering we are paying riolis wage? That speeds are rebuild up massively

Bugger the Jack Graham compo, Stengle would be awesome to have back. $800k they reckon it'll take. Apparently doesn't love living in Geelong.

You don't pay $800k for Tyson Stengle, that is almost what Bolton is on. Would nearly get Cats rd 1 compo, no way.

bolton is on $1 mil if not a bit more, 800k is band 2 under the new cba and is the going rate for quality free agents. Especially as clubs don't need to give up a draft pick.

Yep average wage by end of new CBA will be over $500k. So $800k is a decent amount above average but he's also above average as a footballer. It's not the amount it used to be.

Having said that I think small fwd is a luxury position and we have bigger concerns to address.

cats are just a stingy club with contracts, they are only offering 650k and apparently stengle prefers being in melbourne as oppossed to geelong. 50% or more afl players would use/have used cocaine, it's hardly an egregious blemish on stengles history.

Lynch and Martin who are both on $1m + will be coming to the end of their deals in the next few years, plus the rise in the TPP. Salary cap is overrated, clubs can always move money around. Look at Adelaide, St Kilda, Norf etc they have plenty of cap but it's hard to attract players

Couldn't agree more.

Spend the biggest money where it matters to get it right most, then use Townsend's/Castagna's/Mansell's to fill the rest of the field with competitive beasts.

Out of the 2 picks you will most likely get 1 decent player and possibly a bust with the other
Shai is only 25 and has 7 years left and i cant see us being down for more than 2-3 years

You dont let players like Shai walk out the door

Bolton is a player that keeps supporters interested when the side is not winning. He’s too valuable to trade

Adelaide attracted Dawson and Rankine. Rankine on about $850k and Dawson I am unsure, but probably not more than that. Those guys are a clear level up from Stengle.
