I care not for business analysts but any football follower with an ounce of nous, knows that you do not trade out the much loved and respected captain of a young team.

I am not a business analyst either. I just use my judgement to live and survive!

I have also played footy, and as a player , love for a player of itself will not win a premiership particularly in a highly competitive environment.

I like Newie. I have nothing against him. Just for me , our window is too late for him IMO. My love for Newie is to give him a chance to win a premiership with Geelong like Ottens before he gets too old or somewhere else. Love can take various forms. Ideally, I would love him to say, but in respect for him and the club we are truely in different timetables in terms of our impact on the AFL competition IMO. It is just an opinion and I am only trying to help. I just want the Tigers to not let anything slip in their quest for a premiership!

Hawthorn traded of Croad, Rawlings and Thompson. There is a precedence here. I am not visiting Mars in principle when I throw these options about!!

Can someone please tell me.

I am sure it is easy.

Obviously , it is a question of knowledge as opposed to intelligence.

Let me help you by a quick step procedure of what you do to get it right.

No offense bigfooty website, but the help function must not be compatible with my logic

Question , when you do it right can you see the effect yourself as a creator??

Croad, Rawlings and Thompson were not the captains of their team, Croad was young, so that has nothing to do with your argument, furthermore they traded him back and then won a flag.... I mean honestly, what the hell are you talking about??? Did you spend the last 3 years wanting to trade Richo??? We need leadership at the club. Newie is one of 3 players if Bling goes who has played more than 100 games for the club and the only one to play 150+.... seriously Magic, abra cadabra.... pffft disappear

I am stunned by the blind misconceptions on the value of leadership.

First of all, if you have a premiership team typically, you have plenty of leaders.

I seriously could put a team together of players all not playing 100 games and win a premiership > I have no doubt about that.

I am over 35 so their is no age bias here!!!

Example, if you asked me who I would want to lead Hawthorn and St Kilda in games if I were coaching. It would be Hodge, and Goddard at the moment.

Some of these captains profiles are like Judd and the brownlow glow, overblown to pieces.

I think Newman is a great leader. I have nothing against and I hope all the best for him. I just think we are 6 years away, and that is too long for Newman. It is just life. In life when you get older, you will realise you need to get mobile and move or you will miss out!!!
You can' play safe in competitive environments like the AFL and win unless you are lucky!!!

The point is impliing Lids can't step into Newmans shoes, not his grave, if Newie did depart, or someone else like Tuck is a slap in the face. They could rotate it amongst JR , Lids, Martin and Cotch for starters like St Kilda

The point is they traded them for youth because their window was later. What Hawtorn di was get real in terms of list assessment. That what the Tigers need to do. And guess what Croad, had a brokem leg in the GF.

I did consider trading Richo. I would have loved to see the great man win a premiership as he deserved to. We just didn't have a team around him good enough. Plenty of leaders but they simply were not good enough!!!

Richo , though is a special case, Richo is as much Richmond or player that symbolised a clubs ethos and what they stand for than any player I have ever seen.

We aren't talking about Richo's here with respect!!

So we should have traded Richo away 5 years ago??? We were no chance for the top 4 let alone the flag...... You seriously have lost the plot on this one..... I could make a 22 of players over 29 who could win a flag and like you said a team of young guns to win a flag..... but guess what??? We don't have one and our kids need leadership.... Let Lids develop as a leader.... but Cotch will be a better captain..... But neither of them should have to do that yet, as Newie is the best person for the gig.

Luckily for the RFC, you are not and never will be in charge of anything to do with football at Tigerland. Congratulations of having an IQ of 35+. That's probably double your age.... which may excuse your comments

Just curious Mr Magic how you came up with us being 6 years away?

For instance:

- In 6 years we would be lucky to have 8 players on the field who played this year

- 5 Years ago Collingwood finished 15th

- 4 years ago Geelong finished 10th (Richmond finished 9th)

- 2 years ago Fremantle finished 14th

- this time last year Fremantle finished 14th

Now, now dice man, don't expect logic here.... that just isn't going to happen!!! ;)

You see, if you take the third letter of each players name, give it a random numerical value, divide that by half the diameter of an above average Mars bar and multiply it by the number of problems with the Commonwealth Games in India you will clearly see that the answer is 6 years until said premiership window ;)

I hope he at least buys a membership....

Name the 22 players over 29. I can pick an average younger team and beat them any day of the week!!!!

By the way the gig is not about being captains and posing, the gig is wininning premierships!

I actually, sent an email to the club about the merits of a potential trade of Richo with the option to get him back when our team was ready. I believe I have been proved right. In hindsight we should have traded Ottens for Judd Hodge picks should we in 2001 when Ottens was burning!!!

The truth is our team is more prospective for a premiership since the 1980's even though I say we are still 6 years off,. That is why we can't stuff it up!!!

DICE I will use logic. Richmond are not Collingwood, Geelong Fremantle. Why??? Because their team is composed of different players and the environment has changed. I am not talking absolutes, I am just saying that is a measure for the top 3. Rules can change but principles rarely do.

How do I come up with that? Well I am not going to write war and peace and reveal all in this forum. I basically think that is where our list is at!!!

By the way , Freo where strong chance to make the 8 this year, thanks Freo-you improved my prosperity

Actually , I will be more specific, Freo and Geelo in those years easily had better lists. In fact Thomos demise may be due because maybe he wasn't that great a coach. There is an argument a bad coach will get you a great team through the draft and consistent underachievement so when coaching gets improved through change the team improvement is massive just like Geelong!!

So I just read this article.... http://www.theaustralian.com.au/new...-damian-hardwick/story-e6frg7mf-1225933015173

Says we're going to be picking up Brad Miller :eek::eek::eek::eek:

The Tigers are certain to add some forward support with the acquisition of recently delisted Demon Brad Miller.
Miller, 27, has been invited to join Richmond in December as a mature-age rookie, with a role as a back-up forward for John Coleman medallist Jack Riewoldt and injured young centre half-forward Ben Griffiths, who has undergone reconstructive surgery on both shoulders.
Recruited to Melbourne from Queensland by Craig Cameron, who is now the Tigers' general manager of football operations, Miller is also viewed at Punt Road as a future coach.
"Brad is a fantastic individual who should add great leadership qualities to our group," Cameron said. "He fully understands the role we have planned for him at Richmond, so we're hoping he'll come to us through the system

Also says we're certain to pick up Houli and Grigg...

I think I'm going to have a heart attack before trade week/ND even begins...

Gotta wonder about the CC connections re Melbourne/Miller. He even has quotes in the article. We all know CC has no clue.

I don't care if he's back-up. This is rubbish. Not even remotely worth a spot on the list.

i think i am going to throw up.,

BRAD MILLER!!! WAT THE F ARE WE THINKING.

this trade week is shaping up to be the worst yet. stay away tigers just use the draft to get better not through recyled hacks:mad:

so my predictions

IN
grigg
miller
houli
sherman (sydney are offering him more but he is adamant about coming to richmond)
pick 29

OUT
tambling
thursfield
and then something for sherman (no idea what at the minute)

If we do get the the compo pick of Bock for Tambo, assuming this takes place, The Tigers must assess the attributes of this pick beforehand.

Is it the same as Geelongs 1st round midrange pick over the next five years.

If the Tigers can pick up these characteristics in the trade , hypothetically pick 19 in 2013 is far more valuable to us in our team development than pick 27 or whatever in this year 2010.

Richmond must sus this out with the AFL . The reason is in 2013 , at the end , our list and ladder position will be far stronger. Getting Pick 19 on top of our normal picks is incredibly valuable, just like if we can get the attributes of Geelongs midrange first round pick if they also are tradeable.

It is a massive win if the Tigers could get these picks use them in 2013 because it blows our 2015-2021 window projection wide open if we get these options!!!!

The advantage to us would be as greater than for Geelong or Adelaide which will be declining and facing the full force of GC and a rising GWS when they are looking to temper there progress as they go into full rebuild. This is why Richmond must pay the utmost respect for these draft picks possibilities and liase with the AFL as to the nature of the picks attributes in other team hands traded at arms length for fair consideration.

It would seem little has been learnt from recent history if what has been reported has even the slightest ounce of truth or consideration from RFC.

Kent Kingsley was just a list clogger and took the place of a kid who could have had an opportunity at AFL/VFL. Millers profile is pretty close to Kingsley IMO.

Trading Tambling for an end or first round pick (24-30:confused:)to be taken over the next five years is a slap in the face to his value. I would rather he played on at Coburg this year and assisted in our salary cap minimum being reached rather than see this occur. Admittedly his value is not worth much at present but this will be a really bad trade unless something else is attached.

Sheesh this club is just not prepared to do the hard yards for sustained success and would rather some more Patrick Bowden, Blumfield shortcuts than do it properly.

Can I echo the thoughts of other Big Footy posters on the Richmond Forum, Mr Magic, **** Off ! ! ! :)
