Was loving the 2-for-1 trades floating around this board, until it turned into Carlton offering 2-for-1 ... Giving away those deals on top of Waite leaving without compensation is the worst outcome for us. We can't afford to be cutting into our depth.

So does this make it 11 list spots open now officially? Not including Robbo, Lucas and other trade bait. zeeCFC

Garlett and 27 for 23
7 and 23 for jaksch 18 and 20?
Would obviously prefer to keep 7 but would depend how highly we rate KJ and the the draftees we think we could still get with 18 and 20. Giving up too much?

Well, he was a 6th round pick in the rookie draft originally.

And he was probably the most dangerous small forward in the league up until this year! Compared to his value then we are selling low. It's irrelevant where he was recruited, it's about maximum market value

Jeff wont be the first either - we have good ( )track record of offloading players when value is low.

Carlton should probably work in retail :p

SL: Duigan, Bootsma, Temay, McInnes, Waite, Garlett = 6

RL: Scotland, Reynolds, Cachia = 3

Only 9 down for now but it's growing.
Wouldn't be out of the question should a player or two get an unexpected reprieve.

Ease up Wickie, a second round draft pick AND a player for another second round pick ??

Why not just let Garlett go for nothing then ??

There has been interest from more than one club and Garlett has stated he will go to either so it's time we cashed in on that fact.

Garlett said he wants to go to Melbourne

I reckon we will get a fourth rounder

Don't understand how Collingwood think they could get Treloar, and I don't see how we do either, but I would absolutely love him. Any suggestions on how we could get that done? It would more likely be on the cards next year considering that's when he is out of contract, but would pick 7 this year be fair?

Melb would
Probably, but I reckon what both have done in the AFL would say its a fairly even trade. They might also agree that Watts needs a new environment... If not Watts, is there any chance we could get Mitch Clarke to do a tour of Visy.

Why is Garlett, who has kicked +39 goals in three of his last four seasons, only worth a 5 spot upgrade ???

It's more to do with what he doesn't do that really lowers his value. Yes he can kick goals but he doesn't physically compete and get involved in contested footy, not overly interested in chasing and isn't a good tackler. Teams know how crucial it is for their players be be good at these things in big games. Off field issues, poor form and inability to play anywhere outside of the forward line also would lower his value. His previous goals tallys are all he has to hold to, you'd hope there are a few clubs out there interested and desperate for a small forward which would up his value. If I was an outside club I'd be uncomfortable using anything higher than pick 40. It will depend where the recruiters think the talent runs out in the draft.

Exactly same goes for Lucas except he has no previous good seasons under his belt like Garlett, has some ok games, youth and being a previous high draft pick going for him and that's it. I would think that Robinson has the highest trade value but I get the feeling we have a high price on him and are using this as a wake up call for him or perhaps the off chance there is real high interest and we get something good for him.

TBH I don't think we have much trade value unless we want to trade one of our best 22 older players such as Walker or Jamison but I can't see us doing that as I don't think it's our way of doing things.

It's beginning to look like we'll get nothing this trade period or we'll get a few players with our second/third rounders very late in the trade period similar to Everitt, where he was picked very late and in return we upgraded Sydney's pick.

Would be happy for a pick in the 30's for Lucas and/or Garlett and just taking that to the draft or picking up a player.

I'm running a slow-moving, one-man twitter campaign if you care to board the train... :)

Nope we'd make out like bandits.

Can we get them to chuck Tom Boyd in? (They can keep KJ if they like)

I honestly think these 28 and Garlett for 23 suggestions are rediculous. If we are doing a pick upgrade it needs to at least be our 3rd (45) and Garlett for 23. I think that is fair. It's still a bargain for Melbourne, but considering the year he has had and the way we have managed him that is fair.
At the end of the day he has kicked 180 goals in 100 games and is currently our best forward.
