Are they doing that shit where the last 3 hours or so of the trade period is broadcasted on the AFL website. If so this is going to drag out and wait for the “power finally horney” headline

So why did the suns have to pay so much to keep a local kid at the club? Wasn’t he in their academy or something? Was he even that good or getting chased that hard by other clubs?

And if Geelong can ‘smooth out the contract’, why can’t the suns? And, if Geelong want him so much, why the first round pick?

And didn’t we just give the suns a whole heap of draft help, only for them to turn around a year later and give away a top ten pick?

Just don’t do dud things like pick up Atkins and Long, and keep bowes and the pick. Or trade bowes and keep the pick.

Can’t believe the AFL is letting this through…

When someone brought up Haynes (GWS) as a possible target I laughed? Not interested in him as a player think his half the player he was. But what about a salary dump we swap pick 8 for there 3 and take on his salary. Then offer 3 & future first to Nth!

Gold Coast don't want to smooth his contract out as they don't see him in their best 22 - but yeah super shit management from them.

I don't mind the salary dump trading, but it should be similar to FA, where if you accept that trade you must absorb that contract in it's current state - no smoothing it out over X years.

Bowes has to be a moron or genius.

No way is he getting games at Geelong. Whereas he is a walk up start at hawthorn, north, etc.

Then again, getting paid 500k + to be fit, play reserves footy and enjoy the lifestyle of the rich in Geelong isn’t a bad option.

Of course he was already doing that at the suns and living on the Gold Coast….

Yep, that’s what I hope we’re looking at.

Bowes walks into Geelong's premiership side ahead of the likes of Mark O'Connor and Zac Guthrie. Selwood leaves behind an opening too.

There's absolutely no reason to expect that GWS would even consider a deal like this, nor should they. Just because Gold Coast have decided to make the worst trade of all time, it doesn't mean any other club will be willing to do the same.

The Dunkley trade is on life support. The Bulldogs, dissatisfied with the Lions, are willing to let Josh Dunkley walk into the open market, reports Sam Edmund

THAT. ISN'T. HOW. IT. WORKS.

What are these journos getting paid for if they won't push back against clubs making ridiculous, objectively wrong statements like the above?

Spit balling every idea. 3 way trade
Port: JHF, 22 (ESS)
North: 2 Future 1st rd ours & ESS plus either 33 or Bonner
ESS: 8 & Drew
We get our man plus a pick to get best key defender available.
North get 2 extra f1 for 2023 on top of their own. Giving them a whole season to target a young gun eg: Brayshaw? Plus steak knives with Bonner OR 33.
Essendon get pick 4 & 8 this year before their Davey bid will come, so they will get 3 potential guns this year. And even with all the mess there Essendon always back themselves to be Premiers every year😂. So they think their 2023 1st rounder would be well into the teens. And they also get a young big body midfielder Drew. Gotta be a better option then Mathenson.

I think they're saying they'll let him go. He is uncontracted right.

Would seem crazy to let him go for free, but might be a case of making a statement against just getting Brissys future probable pick 16-18 and 21.

The dogs want similar to what GWS got for Taranto and some on here thought we would get him for the Amon compo 😂
Pick 8 was always going to be around the mark. Pick 8 + minor picks would = 12 and 19.

Will be fascinating to see what happens with the Lions here. Dunkley was so worried about not nominating because of the club not being able to guarantee his selection, then he picks the club who is insanely hamstrung with a #1 F/S and the fact they are top 4 this year and likely to be top 4 again next year.

Fringe player at the suns who wants to be a ‘big bodied mid’ but has played as an average half back flanker, will displace premiership players (albeit fringe) at Geelong? Bearing in mind they have multiple players already on the books ready to take over from Selwood and are picking up Henry, Bruhn and pick 7.

Bowes has no chance. But then again, suns are average developers of players and Geelong have a habit of turning these guys into champions.

But I've been hearing it's Izak Rankine Day
