No. If we can get him without selling the farm we get him now, a lot can change in 12 months.
If they get Clarko & start winning games JHF may decide to stay at North.
It’s going to be a cold day in hell when Norf start winning games.
He’s got to much of a love for himself to stick around that long.
It’s only a matter off time and who he wants to go to.

These close games have created this false economy.

We didn't lose because we were only just a little bit worse than the opponent. Most of our close losses have come from large comebacks where we slammed on goals in a rush when the oppo dropped off. When the time came to stand up, even with our momentum teams have been far too good for us and hold us off.

We are actually exactly where we deserve to be, and our plight is exactly that of a 12th placed team.

We have a serious issue in the ruck with no plan to resolve it (hint: Lycett isn't the answer), we are completely devoid of small forwards with Robbie cooked, Rozee & Butters in the middle, and Fantasia permanently injured, we also have a serious issue down back in the key position department. All of this is topped off by our desperate need to find another gun mid. Rozee & Wines we can build around, but Drew isn't coming along, Mead looks like he'll follow a similar path to Drew, so we really need a JHF type here to really solidify this midfield.

Also knowing Amon, Boak, Dixon, Jonas, R Gray, McKenzie, Mayes should all be gone by end of 2023 leaves a huge amount of talent and depth we need to replace with limited draft picks available. Possibly we might lose Bergman and Hayes by the sounds of it too.

Our list is in a really s**t position. Really s**t. Poor management and a lack of action in advance has hurt us big time. If Rozee and Marshall hadn't had such massive break out years we'd be in huge trouble.
Yeah and what I put in my post takes care of 3 of them issues
Grundy ruck. Dunkley gun mid and allows rozzee and butters to rotate through the forward line which gives us that gun small forward. If we get Fantasia for as many games as we did last year besides a key back we would be looking pretty bloody good. Throw in more time for bergman and sinn which we didn’t have either for majority of the year. That’s a strong side

Parffitt would be another good young mid we could use in our team. Out of contract and I don’t think would cost that much. Especially since they are looking at getting Taranto and would squeeze him out more

Eligah Holland's playing his 3rd Gold Coast game today.A first round 2020 pick, played really well last game.Done an Acl last year.Gold Coast have a lot of that type of player on there list.Great kick ,good leg speed with outside run to open up our fwd line.

Parfitt a Cat for two more years

Geelong midfielder Brandan Parfitt has resigned with the club, adding two more years to his contract and making him a Cat until at least the end of 2024, the club confirmed on Thursday.

Parfitt and Drew are the same player. I don’t see a need for 2 of them.

If we are going for someone from Geelong I’d like Brad Close. Pressure forward who finds the ball, uses it well and consistently hits the scoreboard. I’m not sure how the salary cap at Geelong works but presumably players like Close are on well below the AFL average. Make him a good offer.

There’s something about those two words pressure forward I don’t like.
Much prefer goal kicking forward.
Saying that if we could get him or someone like him cheap could be worth it.

That’s my point, Close is a goal a game forward. Not 1 in 6 weeks like McEntee, Mead or Lachie Jones.

Actually, I looked it up and Close would be 2nd in our goal kicking this year.

What to do with our forward line.

Just about everything begins and ends with new coaches because while we play one short in attack we are going to have issues.

Lets start with structure

3 talls including one 2nd Ruck
1 small forward
2 medium forwards

Talls
1. Dixon inc 2nd Ruck duties
2. Marshall
3. Georgiadis or Finlayson

Small Forward
1. Fantasia or player that needs to be brought in

Medium forwards
1. Powell- Pepper
2. Rotate Rozee, Butters & Houston

Assumptions are: Gray retires & Boak can still play midfield.

So we need a player that plays when Fantasia is injured so he could play 23 games and as far as I'm concerned high draft picks and players are not to be traded until Hinkley is gone so at best we can trade for a player with a late pick.

That could possibly be Durdin (37 in 2020) from Carlton or Narkle (60 in 2016) from Geelong who are OOC.

We can't get a free agent because it interferes with Amon compensation so I would be waiting until delisted free agents and last chance saloon could be Lewis Taylor.

All those options aren't great but are still better than Jed McEntee running around.

We have officially become North Melbourne.

Loads of cap space and can't attract anyone to use it.
Inability to land talent is one of the few criticisms you actually can’t really throw at the club.

Ryder, Dixon, Rockliff, Motlop, Aliir all non-SA lads, plus Fantasia and Lycett. Yeah there’s it’s certainly a mixed bag of end results but we’ve been one of the better clubs at actually landing trades

A Grandmother on a Zimmer frame is better than McEntee running around.

He would be our highest paid player what message does that send Connor etc
You’d think the players would have the self awareness to know that given their massive drop off this year, our list has to go in rebuild mode and that if they want success we need to recruit.

We currently have 1 player who has kicked over 20 goals this year. 800k for Rankine will be looking like a bargain when he’s kicking goals every week.
