Seems like the endgame is to ensure everyone in the membership department leaves. We've just sold them another pup on top of all of the crap they already have to confront members with. But yeah, free scarf.

I intend to ask for Dougal on my membership card. I want to feel the banhammer of rejection.

Anyone who supports this abhorrent trade are now qualified to sit on the clubs board.

I’ve never had a migraine in my life, I have now.
I don't think many support it, but if it was going to happen and we had no choice, then the trade in isolation is reasonable.

Basically the trade is in 2 parts.

Part 1: Dougal for pick 18. Which is pretty much the value of Dougal. He hasn't done enough to command more yet. Even though his potential is huge.
Part 2: Move from 10 to 12 (130 draft points), for between 150 to 350 draft points next year. Draft points we needed for Schofield and Jones next year.

Ultimately it sucks to lose Dougal and the trade should never have happened, but the actual trade itself is reasonable. It's not overs, but it is fair.

Hi all, hope you don't mind me posting here.

I just wanted to say I feel bad for you blokes, I never realised that Dougal was such a fan favourite until I've read some of the fallout from this trade.
It's a shame that apparently your club didn't feel the same way. There's nothing worse than losing a valued player for peanuts - I imagine we are going to feel similarly jilted once Steven and Bruce are eventually traded for well below their worth.

Can someone help me understand why this was allowed to happen though? I read he was pushed forward and then dropped to the 2s this season, was he injured, out of form, or just simply out of favour?

Hopefully your new picks can bring you some solace going forward to ease the sting a bit.

Cheers

Judging by the way they've talked about his exit, it's almost wholly due to the fact that we have earmarked him as a key forward option whereas you guys will play him as a key defender.

You guys offered him a 5 year deal at $600,000. Nothing more to grasp than that.

He has fallen behind both Watts and Westhoff in defence. Looked good up forward for a couple of games (notably against St Kilda) before just evaporating.

I don’t see how pick 18 is worth pissing off all the supporters, and giving St Kilda a big win, but Howard is extremely overrated.

The only reason I haven't thrown in my membership is because it's going to be the first time in a decade that I'll be able to go to pretty much every game because I'll no longer be doing fifo from Melbourne. That, and I like my seats.

If the club fails miserably again (which I firmly expect it to do) next season, and they retain Hinkley, then I'll be out.

This bit kills me. He had 3 years left on his contract. If we don’t have a choice in this situation, when the flying f@&k do we?

Devastated. From not seeing Doogs as a key Defender, to letting him explore his options. was never going to end well. Is worth way more than pick 18ish to us fans but we were never going to get anything better.

Lets just hope we turn 18 and 29 into pick 13 or similar.

Really wanted Dylan Stephens but cant see that happening now.

Funny thinking that letting Logan Austin and Jackson Trengove go have pretty much killed our club

Trengove broke the seal on it being okay to move clubs.
