Woodley and iaucone would have struggled to have 10 touches between them, and absolutely no impact. Same with Barry who only kicked 1. Were all no shows, and they seem to have been talked up quite a bit on this forum.

Scotch have been losing by large margins and against a near full strength Xavs, Xavs only won by a couple of points. Seeing as Scotch had the same depleted team, my pick is De la too. Also St Bedes could trouble come finals!

Agree that St.bedes are the smokey.

If they get close to their full list of TAC players they will go close.

Xavs need to go up a cog and this week against fitzroy might be the tuneup they need.

De la keeps winning albeit a touch ugly against both the Uni teams. If they get most of the players from the ones back they could win it.

Tipping a St.bedes De La final.

Any noise on where the finals are to be played?

seriously you have got to be joking, with the ground basically underwater before the game it was never going to be a forwards day so your comment is completely ignorant, woodley has starred all year and was not poor to say the least on the weekend. Scotch brought 8 players from their first 18 up just for this game shows how bigger shambles that club has been in ever since the win against xavs earlier in the year.

Old scotch on the w.e showed how well they can perform with a depleted line up, missing many key players. Xavier showed how susceptible they are to some tough footy. ANd from what i saw many of there "so called stars" both of who were selected in this sub-par under 19 vic team hardly got near the footy and didnt look like they even wanted it. Wouldnt be expecting much from Xavier come September, they are a pack of pretenders who will flinch when the games on the line. De LA for the premiership with ease.

I don’t want to buy into the on-going Xavs v Scotch battle and while I have no great affection for Xavier I do respect them. I also like my posts to be fair and balanced. OX has consistently made 19 Premier grand finals and it was only some incredibly strong De La Salle teams that prevented them winning a couple of flags. The OX 2009 version in particular would have comfortably beaten any of the teams going around this year, my club included. Their senior’s record needs no further comment. If I was from Scotch I would avoid making comparisons with Xavs at the risk of severely embarrassing myself.

Your comment about the 19 rep side being ‘sub par’ is just plain disrespectful. If you had watched the game you would know what I mean. A top class game played in very tough conditions. Remember this is one competition against over 50 competitions. Only a goal or 2 in it with 5 minutes to go. OX had 2 reps. 1 was Brendan Goss who has played Premier seniors all this year and a fair but of last year. Think his spot was deserved wouldn’t you say? The other was Iacone who as it happens was the only member of the team not to have played senior footy this year. Perhaps his spot was open to debate but as a consistent performer in the top U19 division he probably earned his spot and in conditions not suited to his style of play he was not disgraced. Who would you have had in the team instead? My club has dominated U19 footy for years and has had more eligible U19s play seniors this season than any other yet we had just 2 reps. We had another 4 or 5 who have played Premier seniors this year who could have considered themselves unlucky - Close & Nicholson in particular, but to come out and say the team was ‘sub par’ is ignorant and incorrect. Big Max VDB was the only real stand out from Scotch and quite rightly was selected. Max is a super player but I can’t think of any others off the top of my head from Scotch more deserving than the 22 selected.

I have nothing against Scotch but they have won zero at any level for years. Seniors are possibly going to get relegated. Your 2s, 3s and 19s are all going to miss finals. No disgrace in that it just makes it a bit risky to start potting other clubs.

And to those writing off Xavs and backing De La a word of warning. De La was putrid on the weekend against the bottom side. Have a couple to come back in but this years comp is wide open. Anyone of 4 teams is a legitimate chance.

Ahhh this comment makes me cringe! This is just so wrong on so many different levels. The fact that you referred to scotch as being 'depleted' isn't right as they brought in numerous of school kids for the big match, along with van den brook who had a huge influence to his credit. And i dont know who OX 'so called stars' are but the fact that they won without them 'getting near the ball' says a lot doesnt it? Don't forget that two of their mids were out as well.
So the way I look at it, with their 'stars' not touching the ball..and two of the best mids in the comp not playing, it was a bloody gutsy win from the boys in the red and black.

I agree with everything you have written Rooster...

Scotch Football Club is a basket case... Was even talking to a Scotch bloke yesterday who said he would piss himself if the seniors got relegated.

They've got no alumni, no spirit and whilst there are some good blokes at there club - there sh1t ones outweigh the good ones by 20-1.

"Scotchy P00fters have no balls. Do da do da!

If they do there very small, oh da do da day!"

K Out.

and this is why Rooster is one of the only people i respect on this forum!

an apparantly epic battle at camberwell on saturday was also missing xavs captain in douglas, who reportedly is continuing his own ongoing battle with fluctuant weight.. perhaps the sometimes fit and sometimes tubby leader can spur them on with a late run into fitness for the finals?

Couldn't give a rats about the result on saturday seeing as Scotch are long gone and playing for whatever pride their is to be had, and Xavs playing for form going into the finals. Based on the two teams from when they played each other last, Scotch had Sansom, newman, jamieson, woodard, and perry out, and xavs denton. But you go out onto the park with what you have, no excuses. De la v Xavs final as Xavs will be too strong for whoever they play in elimination...

Please note while the entire OSFC is taking a late August break - All 7 .........yes all 7 OXFC sides will be taking part in September action.

Game ..... Set.......Match :thumbsu:

Once again you've summed it up perfectly, get the cruisers on ice scotchies - the xavs will be busy with all teams playing finals footy. It could even be B grade for the Scotch Seniors next year...... LG - life's good

I am not sure where you get this information from Mackdaddy as i do not believe you are associated with any clubs. But if this is true, i wish the OX captain all the best and a speedy recovery

Bit of a cheap shot. It's his shoulder. Had problems with it for his whole career thus far.

well i do know cos he has dislocated it twice and had prblems with it for a while. anyway,
OS to beat Oms by 20 in another tight contest. Om;s always seem to be up and about but dont have enough to beat OS.

BEauy v De La- Could de la be the team to knock off beauy on home soil? i reckon they are. Despite last weeks performance De la are a great side and if anyone can run 4 quarters on that ground, it's de la. De la by 10

Uni Blacks v St Bedes- Will show how good St bedes are, St bedes by 50.

Xavs v Fitzroy- Home ground for Xavs- xavs by 46.

Beauy easy.. De La won't know what hit them this week..

both those number 8's from De La and Xavs can play though! only if xavs number 8 was 1 foot taller.

Old Melburnians vs Old Scotch - Should be an interesting match! if OM's can win the will survive any chance they have of dropping down and they would be wanting to finish the season on a high! OM's by 5 points

Beaumaris vs De La Salle - Game of the round! De La the last team to win down at Shark Park! Should be tight all day but i expect Beauy to bounce back after last weeks disappointment! Beauy by 12 points

Uni Blacks vs St Bedes/Mentone - Blacks must win to have any chance of surviving! But the fact that Bedes must win to have any chance of a second chance should be enough and Bedes should win by 5 goals or so

Old Xaverians vs Fitzroy - Xavs last home game for the season and they will want to go out on a high! Xavs by 80

Thoughts?

The OS vs OM game will depend on how many school boys front up for OS. If they get a reasonable amount they will defeat OM's comfortably. If they don't OM's may cause an upset.

Agree that the Sharks vs DLS should be a cracker. De La has a few boys in the ones at the moment. So I think that this may tilt the scales Beauy's way just.

St.Bedes will get the job done against the Blacks in a tight game at the Crawford Oval.

Xavs will want to play some better footy than last week to defeat Fitzroy. They (Fitzroy) are a much different side without Turner playing for them.

OS's midfield work is second to none in the comp, with peric rucking and jamieson grinding it out. will be way to strong for om's

hahahhaah, who ever this is cant be serious?

I am really looking forward to the Beauie v De la game. 2 great sides which will have a finals like atmosphere. Both sides have a lot to play for. Beauie to make themselves a serious threat for the finals series if they can get up and beat de la but if the boys from fairy bell come away with the 4 points just proves even more that they are the premier side in the comp and have the right to be the favourites for the flag because as we all know, going down to Shark park and winning aint easy as it has not been done all year.

For me, i am going to have to tip the home side as they know the ground far to well and cant be matched. It will be close, less than two kicks will be the difference.

Im off to steal a few plasmas from next door and the rest of the neighbourhood:D

In OS's defence those schoolboys who played would have had little if any impact on the game, just add a little depth.

True. Also I would sub in those 6 I mentioned before into the side, seeing as they are 6 out of top 10 players..

De La seem to just win games no matter the performance they put in, so De la by a kick.

Yawn... No ones cares about the 6 who didn't play.

Scotches are gawnskies - No need to post for the rest of this season thanks Coach Carter.

Anyhoo, I'm more interested in the Brindisi Boys. Jeans & Faulkner both duper again on the weekend... Put Beauy to the sword and to reckon these boys are the goods.

Thoughts on this please.

Yep scotch are gone and have been since rd 8.

I reckon st bedes will play Xavs in elimination. And if there is no tac cup game they have a great chance to play de la in the final!
