I would do that, AM, but tongues would wag. You know how they are. I'm only just getting over allegedly "having a man crush" on The Chief down at Hampton, I dread to think what effect escorting Jascave on my arm through the hallowed portal would have on my tattered reputation on that side of town.

There's only one ingrate I won't mention, and he's gone, the lack of a Big Dance appointment was entirely self-inflicted - maybe 2013 or 2014 would have been my year? Nobody knows. * **

When playing at Elsternwick the only thing any team fears is the weather / wind. OM's arent the issue

Seems a ridiculous thing to say when we are 4/11 but we (DLS) are really not that bad. Difference between ourselves and the top sides is that we desperately need our better players out there to be competitive and for much of the season that has not been the case. This is even more important when you are devoid of stars. Reckon we have played 9 or so U19s this season which while I see this as a real positive it is a lot of young bodies to drag through a Premier season.

I reckon to be a good premier team these days you need to bat to about 30-35 and have a handful of stars to complement your core of established players. We currently bat to about 20 and when you get a big number of those sidelined you really get opened up. Carey and Trinity probably about the same as us with Wesley, OM’s, Bernie’s and Brighton batting deeper but still relying on their best players to be out there each week.

SKOBs were my pre-season pick for the flag as they go well into the mid-30s. Even when impacted heavily by VFL, injury etc they remain solid and have no weaknesses. Xavs the same – extraordinary depth. Blues don’t bat as deep but their top end is so good that they will always be hard to beat. The rest just playing for 4th.

Big game for us at Carey tomorrow. From all reports Carey were pretty good last week against OX and I understand they have a good side in tomorrow. Lose and we will need a miracle to stay in Premier. Win and it probably all comes down to Rd 18 v Trinity. I note above that a few are tipping against us but I am confident we can keep the season alive.

Was just trading clichés with FF Woger. I’m actually very proud of the way my club has remained upbeat through a very tough season. Have managed a few good wins against a couple of teams currently in the four when we have managed to get a decent side on the park but as per my analysis we simply don’t bat deep enough and have been exposed. On the positive side we have uncovered some excellent young players who might not otherwise have got an opportunity.

I felt at the time the Rd 1 loss to Carey would come back to bite us . Was just a train wreck of a day. Our best two players injured early in the game, no bench before ¾ time and finished with 17 on the field. To make matters worse we coughed up a 15-point lead with 10 min to go. And just to rub salt in the wound the last 3 OC goals were from free kicks dead in front from the same umpire (my blue and gold eyes reckon that at best they were questionable and at worst they were howlers !). However on reflection you should not kick 18 goals in a game and still lose. And the number of injuries that day suggests we were perhaps unfit or at least underdone. What’s done is done and just need to win at least 2 of the last 3. If we don’t then so be it.

Surely the VAFA could’ve continued its long standing partnership with 96.5 Inner FM if they had arranged a deal for Inner FM to simulcast its games on the Carnival digital station and also VAFATV, instead of breaking up its 20+ year partnership which has served both bodies well for so long.
