****ing great game to watch. Especially the first half.

both teams over 100 points. How many times has that occured this year?

Love how we say our defence was horrible yesterday.

It was the same as last year and it all comes down to one initial structural change.

Ziebell on the ball. Anderson forward.

Jacks pressure is fine in the f50 because defensively you’ve only got one option now that you can’t rush behinds, as soon as he goes on ball gets lost, doesn’t impact the contest both ways and changes the structure inside. Cunners and higgo play better without him there.

It was stupid by Scott and shows that we lack depth in the midfield, he reverted back to last years mindset in that one change.

So much this. Mentioned it to a mate at the game. Especially baffling considering our opponent. We simply must give another mid a crack next week - LDU is the obvious one. Mountford is the forgotten man but he might have gone alright yesterday.

He's been good this year but for me this loss was on Scott and game plan. Some of our better players looked like crap bc they simply couldn't keep up... (tried to run against a team that's been built and topped off by runners).

Essendon remind me of us in 2012. Kamikaze running in waves, high scoring with zero defense. Looks great during the season but won’t go anywhere in September (if they make it).
Totally agree. 100%. And as a supporter it's concerning. Surely Essendon took heed from getting smashed in the Sydney final last year when they could not handle the pressure.

Anyway, good game guys! A good old fashioned shoot out. And yeah, some of the goals which stuck for the Bombers were pretty arsey!

I couldn't think of a more appropriate recruit for them than Stringer. Soft, always looking for the easy option, goes missing when the heat is really on, but couldn't be a bigger front runner when the game is won, absolute turd of a bloke.

Hearing 40,000 squeaky little Essendon voices all going "PAAACKAGE!" when he got near the ball turned my stomach.

The epitome of a train wreck human. Life after footy will be kind to him, I'm sure.

I expect it will blow up in their face well before then.

all well and good but north did nothing from last year's game the way Hooker carried on.
Exactly.
We had to beat them on the scoreboard and we’re embarrassed considering the importance of the game for finals and the occasion.
First time they’ve won 2 in a row against us in 17 years.
This whole ‘when do play them again’ shit is nonsense.
Members were treated like 2nd class citizens yesterday being a replacement game and the performance itself was fitting of the day all round.

On that replacement game we should have played Port in Hobart and Blues here and that have been the replacement game

In actual fact it is our introverted nature to accept it

Games over, we didn't have their luck and they managed to utilise their edge in pace.

Best 22 vs best 22 & we win, so I am not too concerned going forward.

On to the Suns and some payback.

Agree. Dumont is pretty much doing all he can be expected of at the moment. I think he's having a professional year, been asked to play a role we need and probably isn't that natural and he's doing what he's asked IMO. I've been impressed by his work.
Been one of our most improved, alongside Anderson and Simpkin (despite his shocker yesterday). His missed goal would have stung him, but Dumont has become a steady mid who will crack in when required. Flying under the radar but deserves some kudos.

Agree with you both and coaches and players alike showed no inclination to make them pay when it counted. We're far from a Clarkson settle scores type of unit.

However have to back Heath, if the players approached every game with his North Melbourne passion we'd never lose.

The main worry now is injuries. We should be able to get away with it against GC. However, after that, the next 4, if we don’t have Wood and Waite, we’re in serious strife. Larkey would need to be a revelation.
