Good video showing the tank battle in Vuhledar and how and why the orcs got decimated. Interesting to note that it seems that Russia is out of experienced tank crews going forward. Would mean they have no capability offensively as tank crews would still be a necessity.

And this is a rumour I spotted

Hope this isn't true. Having an incompetent Russian defence minister who hasn't spent one day in the military is the best thing for Ukraine at the moment.

Looked this up after hearing it summarised by the Telegraph podcast.

[Ukraine: The Latest (Telegraph June 1)]

What boggles the mind is just how openly the Russians are about how they are systematically removing kids from Ukraine without permission from parents / guardians. They film it, they state it publicly. And no, you can't attack another country and then at the same time say you are taking children "to protect" them.

Putin and his enablers will be convicted for sure in the ICC even if they do not bother to defend themselves.

This, the thousands of reports of torture, etc ensure that Russians will never be welcome across broader Ukraine and they will never be able to hold it. Any ground they control will be subject to constant guerrilla activity.

Yep, no way they can subjugate the population permanently. Also, the way Russia operates it can't afford to be isolated with only a handful of dictatorships as its ally.

Yeah it wasn’t really well thought out.

Heads of state from all over Europe met yesterday in Moldova for the European Political summit. Guess who wasn't invited?

Zelensky even met up serbia's president Vucic. Putin losing allies.

As part of the meeting more countries are going to supply Patriot systems to Ukraine so that Russia can waste more missiles, and Poland are sending Moldova weapons and ammunition to resist internal destablisation. In other words the Russian Transnistria problem. As we have seen with how poor the orc attempts are with their own border defence, the 1500 or so Russian troops guarding Transnistria would be in a word of hurt with no backup if Moldova and Ukraine came knocking. Think it will eventually happen as its both a win for Moldova (they get sovereignty over their whole territory) and also Ukraine (they don't have to watch over their shoulder having a Russian presence to the south west of the country), but just not in the immediate future.

Reports of an attack at the port of Berdiansk, which is about 50km southwest of Mariupol. They speculate it was Storm Shadow strikes.

Added: here's an alleged image.

Most people already know all this but just a refresher in case its useful:
I believe Berdyansk is being used as a hub for moving supplies to RF troops in the occupied Zaporizhzhe region, and to the frontline there. Additionally, for those times that guesses are made where the upcoming counter-offensive will focus, this would be approx the coastline tip of a wedge. And thirdly, it's a place grain was shipped out from when it was being stolen back last year.

Finally, it's where the first attack on RF ships in port had happened. If you can remember that time yonks ago when RF blogger streamed himself outside a port and talking about military craft in port - and it was used to geolocate the craft and 1 was hit ... well that was Berdyansk.

This was interesting, talking about the reasonings for bombing Kyiv instead of trying to target the resources massing for offensive operations, this bloke suggested it was a classic medieval tactic, and then also likened it to Hitler losing ascendancy over the RAF due to a tantrim.

Maybe its an ISR issue. I doubt Russia has 24/7 satellite coverage over Ukraine. Cities do not move, weapons, ammo etc can & do. NATO ISR tells Ukraine where the Russian fuel/ammo dumps and command posts are, Russia may well have little idea about where Ukrainian dumps and bases are.

Thanks for that Mobbs. Makes it a great target for many reasons. Ukraine getting ready to go. There is good chance the Zaporizhzhe region will be central to any Ukrainian summer offensive, irrespective of whether it goes east or south.

Looks like a shaping operation to fix forces to the north. Like CD Xbow said wouldn't be a surprise that there is a drive south.

Orcs are claiming that the Russian foreign legion never entered the area over the border near Shebekino. Yet they are banning cars from driving around the town….

Also this should dispel any notion by the trolls that Russia is holding back. They’re sending in the work experience kids!

Once the Ukrainian offensive starts, I assume that the RF will focus on them and the Ukr forces will start to be hit badly, instead of the cities. Zelensky has said this himself.
What UF need to do is move rapidly and take ground as soon as they can.
