Europe War in Ukraine - Thread 4 - thread rules updated

This is the thread for discussing the War in Ukraine. Should you want to discuss the geopolitics, the history, or an interesting tangent, head over here:

If a post isn't directly concerning the events of the war or starts to derail the thread, report the post to us and we'll move it over there.

Seeing as multiple people seem to have forgotten, abuse is against the rules of BF. Continuous, page long attacks directed at a single poster in this thread will result in threadbans for a week from this point; doing so again once you have returned will make the bans permanent and will be escalated to infractions.

This thread still has misinformation rules, and occasionally you will be asked to demonstrate a claim you have made by moderation. If you cannot, you will be offered the opportunity to amend the post to reflect that it's opinion, to remove the post, or you will be threadbanned and infracted for sharing misinformation.

Addendum: from this point, use of any variant of the word 'orc' to describe combatants, politicians or russians in general will be deleted and the poster will receive a warning. If the behaviour continues, it will be escalated. Consider this fair warning.

Finally: If I see the word Nazi or Hitler being flung around, there had better have a good faith basis as to how it's applicable to the Russian invasion - as in, video/photographic evidence of POW camps designed to remove another ethnic group - or to the current Ukrainian army. If this does not occur, you will be threadbanned for posting off topic

This is a sensitive area, and I understand that this makes for fairly incensed conversation sometimes. This does not mean the rules do not apply, whether to a poster positing a Pro-Ukraine stance or a poster positing an alternative view.

Behave, people.

They targeted North Korean military officials

They targeted a military command centre near the frontlines of the current conflict.

If there were North Korean military officials there, that's the fault of Russia and North Korea.

This hit was on a major building somewhere between Rylsk and Lgov (north of the frontline within Kursk oblast).

The super interesting thing about this strike is that the RF description of events didn't claim everything was shot down. They reported 10 attempted strikes, and that only 2 were intercepted. That's a change in approach by Russia.

The target was a former palace. Considering it's proximity to the Kursk front, perhaps it was a command centre. Guess we'll find out.

A bit hard to claim nothing was hit when footage showed strikes hitting multiple times. Reports are suggesting this was a command centre of both Russian and North Korean hierarchy being targeted. Whatever it was, to send 10 - 12 Storm Shadow missiles that way must have meant it was one damn juicy target.

Hopefully it was successful and took out a few generals of both the terrorists.

Putin also hasn't been seen in public since Nov 7th

Ukraine can let fly with NATO missiles and Putin cowardly goes into hiding. Does it all the time when threatened. Remember when he ran away when Prigzhin was on the march towards Moscow?

People go on about how he is strong making threats against the west, when in fact he is just a weak cowardly man.

More propaganda by the Russians trying to stoke up nuclear fear.

Wait for the inaction of the insipid West who will respond in kind with a sternly worded letter denouncing it......

He is a bit late to the party.

Russia has already murdered a British citizen on British soil with Soviet era nerve agent back in 2018. That was an act of war.

Somehow the UK resisted the urge to fire back.

I thought it was a SMO, not a war?

Also, the UK have been involved since 2022 when Russia's first red line was crossed and have been ever since after every other red line has been crossed.....

Appears that even though there was no warheads in the ICBM missile being fired Russia at Ukraine had to notify the US shortly before launch so it didn't appear that it was launching a nuclear attack.

In other words Putin achieved nothing but waste an ICBM for which Russia has limited supply of.

Yet another embarrassment for Putin & Russia.

Russia's play acting continues.

Kremlin: "Hey guys, just calling to say we're going to fire a long range IRBM missile, its not for you"
A day later
Kremlin: "US is the enemy, we will destroy you"

What a shame.....

Interesting that Russia is claiming they are the victims here fighting against NATO, yet they haven't been able to wound, let alone kill any western officers in battle while their allies involved in the war get decimated.

I think it was more of a demonstration that they could, given their last big missile test blew up the silo
