Toast Warren Tredrea - Elected to the Port Board (Football discussion only)

There are plenty of other suitable candidates who hate Hinkley who would be assets to the Board. Aber is not one of them.

Of course it was Richo who planted the seed - he and Duncanson are on the same board of that steel company. Richo and Aber were literally having coffee at the Precinct together a few days prior to Aber formally announcing his nomination as well.

The sickening part was that the news of Aber nominating leaked out into the Port Adelaide past player community shortly before he announced his formal nomination. A few prominent past players (extremely high up the totem pole) approached Aber and told him not to run because Warren was running and that the Club was using him as a pawn in an attempt to water down Warren's vote to get Nagle through.

Aber only listens to what he wants to hear though.
It is beyond me how Nagel is on the board to begin with. Oh the stories I have…

Abba could come out and call Ken Daddy Donuts but I'd still vote for Tredders because..

He's going for this position simply to save his club (not for ego or status or anything else).
He's got balls - whether you like it or not he'll say it like it is no matter how unpopular.
He a winner and he doesn't stand for excuses like the current mob.
He'll advocate for football and will hopefully remind the board why they are there.

A big part of what makes Tredders winning important is the protest vote aspect.

Koch treated Tredders like absolute shit and attempted to humiliate him. Koch also loves to paint anyone anti-Hinkley as being a fringe lunatic. Good luck arguing that we're on the fringes when we vote our champion in.

In any accountable organisation, Tredders getting voted in would see Koch fall on his sword as he recognises the clear vote of no confidence. Not here though.

Love this man!

What I gathered from the interview is that Bruce Abernathy is more interested in making money and business connections and Warren is more about make the club stronger to win flags. I don't blame Warren I feel like he could make our club have the ruthless standards that they had in their successful seasons

Sitting here and realising that I'm getting voting setup for the giveaway 2 game membership that I got for entering the competition to win a retro guernsey in the lead up to the GWS H&A game.

It was just refreshing in itself to hear Tredders talk about in his interview, the missed opportunities we've had, often going into finals as favourites and bailing out, and that it's not really good enough.

Then going on to talk about success being measured in flags and him doing whatever he can to help and make sure that happens again.

Stark contrast to what we've been getting from Koch and co lately, "successful season in terms of win/loss, unbelievable football program, players love Ken and Ken loves the players"

Hiding Ken away immediately after a finals exit, doing internal reviews which always amount to "everything is pretty much perfect, no changes required"

Just to have someone, (fingers crossed soon the be director) address the elephant in the room instead of sidestepping it, was very welcomed.

Hiding Ken away always amazes me.
Why not front up and explain the poor finals exits, have some courage.

Nope, hide until next March. Ken really did find the gold pass Wonka ticket.

Contrarian opinion but I reckon Koch would be reasonably happy to have Tredders on the board. Warren won't be able to throw any grenades in the media and would be subject to Board confidential clauses.

Keep your enemies close, but surely he can spend more time learning about the club, sit in the stands at training and just stare at Ken. Passive pressure.

Incredibly frustrating, the blokes on 800k a year plus, lauded as some second coming of jesus by the AFL community.......but is shielded year after year from any acknowledgment or explanation of another failed finals series...........AFTER 11 SEASONS IN CHARGE!

After Snowden was elected in 2022, too.

How much more obvious can it be? Get people in there who actually have a clue about footy.
