Fun thing about these SSP picks is that we pick them in a period where they've had to bust their arse with a side job as well.
Looking forward to seeing how this kid fills out with nothing to focus on but footy and a full preseason over the next 18 months. Had a real crack last week and looks to have some skills.
More potential than Burrows/Gorter so it's a positive for me.

Well that was the plan. To sign Dixon so that he gets injured instead of another player.
Dixon has always had the talent but didn't appear to have the fitness or application first time around. Sometimes it takes someone losing what they've taken for granted to get the best out of themselves. Definitely prefer the pick over Keitel.

22 of those games came he was 20 years old. I don't rate either player tbh but the Eagles picked him with one eye on the future too. At 23 Dixon still has some growth and development as a player. He also wasn't a complete spud when he was cut, had talent but his professionalism/attitude was lacking and who knows he might have matured since being cut.

My guess is we've gone the versatility pick. Dixon happy to pinch hit in the ruck, Kietel not. This means Baz Williams can play key forward if we need him to. Gives us options.
