Nice to see our investment start to bare fruit. He's ticked some boxes.

Definitely been a handful of games this year where i thought he was one of our better players, which is good from 13 games.

I have a lot of time for Petch, thought there was a lot to work with in 18-19. I didn't read much into 2020 form given his injuries (although I agree with others who say he shouldn't have played in the final based on form), and he's showing great signs again in 2021.

The club rates him highly too. Simpson clearly considers him best 22, or at the very least, right on the fringe.

No longer right on the fringe you would have to say.

As Jack's sponsor, watching last night's game reminded me of how far he has come this season. He was definitely poor after coming back from injury, but he is starting to get involved in the game more. I noted his link work on the wing to push up and offer an option on the lead to the HBFs. There was a passage of play where he worked well through traffic and threw it on his left boot but didn't made the distance. Would have been a wonderful goal. 7 score involvements yesterday.

Becoming a solid contributer, is good overhead and reliable by foot these days. I still think he needs to really work on using his pace better though. He still seems reluctant to back himself and take the game on more often. I suspect he has been coached to just do the team thing and play the percentages but I hope with more experience and growing confidence that he will start to back himself more and then he will become a real weapon.

Maybe he's playing within himself a bit given he already has a history of hammys, and he also wants to be a good role model for his captain?

I liked how he got the ball on the paint of the 50 and instead of blazing away into the forward line, he turned back into traffic to set up the play better.

Thought that showed confidence and the more he does it and is successful with it, the better he’ll be.

Has improved his disposal and game nous this year. That’s impressive for a ‘just an athlete’.

I think I rate this game higher, it felt a lot less fluky than the Port one. He looked to be going in a bit harder as well (at least by his standards).

The Port one, especially given hindsight, feels like he wasn't shown enough respect and just got out the back a few times and capitalised.

He looked like a bona fide footballer vs Adelaide and got his goals from his craft.

To me that was his game v Saints. It’s the closest game he looked like a crumbing forward.

Yeah this is concerning IMO.

He's constantly having his game interrupted by niggles and other bullshit. Hard to maintain his upward form trend and development when it's constantly broken. It's worse off because it's multiple breaks, not just one large chunk of football. He's played zero WAFL footy this year.

Played round 1 - Gets dropped for round 2 :noentrysign:

Plays rounds 3 and 4 - Gets injured for round 5 :crossmark:

Strings together 6 games between rounds 7-13 - Gets injured for round 13 vs the tigers :crossmark:

Coming back in round 15 after 2 weeks, he's lasted 4 games - Injured again :crossmark:

His year has gone exactly like this

Played - :whitecheck: Omitted :noentrysign: Injured :crossmark:

Would love the justification behind him being overlooked this week. Perfect chance to get more games into a potentially valuable asset totally gone to waste. In a position of real need after injuries and the like.

Lol jk let’s fill the side with slow and WAFL grade midfielders instead.

Yeah your usual humorous Petch supporting aside you're correct, it's quite baffling.
