Why would you call and tell the player.

I mean seriously, for this kid it's the biggest day of his life so far. He knew he was almost certain to get picked up but let the kid have at least some surprise and build up to the announcement. With all of the offseason work he's done and how he's performed so far this year it gives that sense of satisfaction that it's paying off and being pick 1 in any draft is still a big thing.

For all the talk about up and coming mids we have we could very well find them all starting from HB particularly if we have a fit midfield with Nicnat and Yeo back in there, Sheed on one wing and Gaff on the other. Only leaves 2 primary midfield places with a couple of rotations coming from Rioli and the kids. I really hope Shuey retires and Redden goes on for one more year. I love shuey but I think he's just about cooked. Don't be surprised if he's a late out this week or not listed to play due to a cracked rib.

Looping back to this - Nth called their guy who they had decided to take at #2.

Now, I don't want to be North, but it did seem appreciated by the player (of course teams at 5/6/7 can't do that - but when you have #1 or even evidently #2 - a call is warranted prior to the draft).

Interesting part was him saying he's flying to Adelaide tomorrow, will hang around for the game then over to Perth.

Before anyone gets too excited the club has already said that they wanted to give him a dull week training before a WAFL debut.

A 'dull' week training ?

So just regular west coast training then !

I hadn't even heard of Charcoal Chicken before now, where are they in Perth?
Used to be a really good one in Dianella, which is now CharGrill Masters... although most of the menu is the same
Recommend their lamb ribs, biryani rice and cream potato.

There is also a charcoal chicken in Willagee, but their food isn't the freshest.

Can really see this kid becoming a fan favourite very quickly

Speaks well and has a great attitude

Along with Chesser we may have a couple of really good building blocks for our future midfield
I like how genuinely excited he is to have been drafted and how he said he had to rely on himself so much during Covid. Bodes well.

The Day of the JaiCull

If Yeo goes back to HB and Culley and Hough play there to develop, we could have a pretty attacking half back line in 2023.
Much rather just play Culley mid/fwd, as that's where he plays his best footy.

I don't personally get the rationale behind sending people to the HB line if they didn't play junior footy there. Play them where they played well enough to get drafted.

Only a couple of arguments for pushing him behind the ball I reckon. He's good overhead. He has a piercing, accurate, long kick.

I don't care where he plays, really, as long as he can play his natural game and isn't kept away from the footy.
