List Mgmt. Welcome to Luke Edwards (Pick 52, 2020 National Draft)

There was that one inside 50 where he held onto the footy a fraction longer, sidestepped an opponent and delivered it off his left peg looking silky AF.

It didn't come off as the kick was misshit but you could see the clear intention of what he was doing and who he was going for.

Very impressed with him. Normally our young mids do anything other than find the footy, but 27 important, calm touches in game 2 is super impressive.
To be fair to Edwards it was actually a good kick but for whatever reason Waterman decided pull up and not come at the ball.

We just found a diamond in the rough with this guy, Adelaide will be kicking themselves for passing up the son of one of their all time greats. He will be a gun in the future and to think we took him with pick 52 in last years draft shows that you can find gun players down (see Lachie Neale). No more WAFL for him. Hopefully he can also step up to be a balanced mid who can do both inside and outside like Shuey and Judd can in the future. He shows composure, class and polish but if he can develop the ability to win his own ball then he'll be polling up there in the brownlow in the future.

I wish him the very best and can't wait to see him in action for the future.

This season our biggest concern coming into it was the last 4-6 players selected each week, and then in turn our depth outside our 22, particularly our midfield depth. Both of these ranges on our list would be amongst the weakest in the competition, and without doubt the weakest of those clubs with genuine flag ambitions. Obviously with the injuries we've sustained this has been sorely tested and the fears that we are heavily dependant on our top (roughly) ten players have largely been well founded fears. Probably the team most dependant on their star players in the competition which is very much a double edged sword.

We've had Brander make big strides into becoming a genuine best 22 selection this year, and now it's looking like Edwards is going to do likewise. There have been plenty of guys have false dawn's very early in their careers so not going to go the full early crow (pardon the cheesy pun) just yet, but based on what we've seen it's looking like we have secured a really good selection late in the draft.

Our flag aspirations have taken a number of big hits this year, but these two guys will be huge reasons for them getting back on track, if they are to do so.

So looking forward to his long term prospects, I guess he projects as an inside mid. Anyone have any contested ball stats? He is a nice height, doesn't seem overly physical but it's only his second game so that's fair enough and he wasn't at the stoppages anyhow so didn't get the chance.
Doesn't really seem a runner so wing would seem to be an unlikely long term place for him.
Seems to have the smarts to suggest he starts at stoppages but can find the ball in general play too, so essentially a balanced mid but not a linebreaker.
Watched him in the wafl and he projects as an outside mid not inside.

More they type you want you inside mids to dish it out too.

He is not quick but not slow either . Seems to find himself time and chooses the right decision.

a few Crows fans are melting on the Adelaide board about not taking Edwards under teh F/S rule. Can Eagles fans not go over there and gloat about last nights game? Just look like dicks "thanking" them for not selecting him.

This

We've generally got a good rapport with Crows fans too as we have something in common (Share a town with another team full of dickhead supporters)

HAS to stay in the team for the rest of the year if he is playing with that sort of form. Where does this leave Brander now? With Shuey and Kelly back soon we will not have a spot for him.
Brander will just have to get better. If I were him I’d be asking for a trade though tbh

Quality game from Luke.

Composed and made some really good decisions, some instant and others taking that extra half second.

The force is strong in this one!:cool::cool:

Yeah just awesome up against the likes of martin lambert bolton cotchin in the midfield ....he did not look overawed

Lets hope we have found one guys.....lets hope he can continue

Yeah exactly. Brander is where he's always been. Depth used to plug holes. If he wants a more permanent spot, he has to be better.

Simples.

That's a bit Tom Swift 30 disposals / 3rd game vibe.
Also against Richmond iirc.
Disagree entirely. Nothing like Swift. Edwards knows how to play the game, finds the ball and plays within his limitations. He looks like he can make a useful contribution each week which makes him very different from Swift.
