His manager has said its between WC, Freo and Collingwood. Looks like we will be struggling this free agency period.

Doesn't mean we won't land some players. We need to remember that after free agency the trading period still needs to happen and, while we might make a play for a few players in FA, the club might see the trade period as the way in which we can truly improve our list. We will probably end up with an extra second rounder as compo for Moloney as well so we will certainly have some trading chips to land another player or 3.

Apparently the Weagles aren't THAT keen on him but who knows? Word was that if neither WA clubs were too keen he would stay at Collingwood but if we were to offer something he couldn't refuse then we might be in with a shot.

They even mentioned pick 4 being used for Wellingham. Although I'm not sure we should do that...

Yeah, not sold on using pick 4 on Dawes and/or Wellingham. 13 and Petterd or maybe even Martin would be much better value for us.

I don't know it's that terrible. You'd have pick 3, Wellingham, Dawes, Pick 13, pick 18 and Viney with natural second round. You'd say good chance of 5 or 6 best 22 in one draft. Not a bad harvest.

Suits your cap issues too, i.e. filling it up post the exits. Would think though we need something to sexualise it a bit more. We lose two top 20 players and pick 18. We get pick 4, but a Gysberts type might get it done.

If Viney goes to the second round and pick 3 is still available I'd be willing to offer pick 4 as part of a trade for Dawes/Wellingham/pick 18. If we have to take Viney at 3 then pick 4 is off the cards in my opinion.

This might end up much like last year. One minute Clark was off the table and headed to Freo, the next minute he'd signed with us. Perhaps the same with Wellingham. Right now he seems to be off to the Eagles, or remaining at the pies. Maybe in the last minute, although I'm certain I heard he already said no to Melbourne a while ago, it might all turn around and he may become a Melbourne player much like Clark? Who knows.

I think we all know, that Melbourne should never pick a 'skinny' kid at pick 4 or below ever again, take watts and Morton as precedence. Kids these days should be coming into the system already somewhat built, it shows commitment. It's as professional a game as I've ever seen, my brother was skinny and has now been in the gym for the last year and a half and his now 17 just so he is in the best possible position come next years draft.
